Is extra strength tylonel too strong?
I plan on taking one before bed...because my head is killing me...and has been for the last two days, and I don't know what to do. I feel bad for taking pills and am just praying it doesn't hurt my baby.
Anyway...is it ok...or too strong?

Extra strength tylenol is fine. I hope your headache goes away quickly.

You can also try caffeine. I usually had headaches in the morning. I could drink a tiny bit of caffeine and they would go away. I usually don't drink caffeine so a very little went a long way for me.

Hey Marci,
Hope your headache is feeling better - I've got mine today
Here's a site that I use - The Hospital for Sick Children - Motherisk and if you have any questions you can call them. I spoke with them about my migraines and about the use of Tylenol Migraine - but they are good for so much more!
Take care!

Hope you feel better soon! Drink TONS of water and put a cool washcloth over your eyes. That's what got me through the 2nd trimester headaches...

Since you're in the 2nd trimester I'd say it's fine. I'm sure doctors would ok it in the first, but I was just extra cautious since it's so early on & a big time for development. I forgot how much my dr said was safe but I think up to 800-1000 mg but don't quote me on that!!

Tylenol is safe in pregnancy. Just make sure you don't go over the recommended dosage for a healthy adult. I was taking 500mg up to three times a day if I got a really bad headache. But, the only thing that really helped was sleep.

I had a horrible headache last week and all they had at the gas station was extra strength tylenol... i figured i usually take two regular tylenol so i just took one.
And for what its worth i had horrible headaches for seemingly no reason right around 13 weeks for four days straight and then they just went poof.

aspirin & ibuprofen are no-no's during pregnancy, stick with acetaminophen (tylenol).

I was told 1500 mg of acetaminophen is ok / day.
I originally was told (by just friends etc) that only take regular strength tylenol - but after talking to my doc & motherrisk I learned that we are ok to take more.
Also, when I looked at the bottles on the tylenol - Regular strength has 325mg and Extra strength has 500mg... so 2 regular strength is more that 1 extra

Since I had to go to an appointment anyways...I asked the doctor if baby aspirin was okay....and taking a low dose =<81mg shouldn't be a problem. The issue with aspirin is apparently taking it at maximum strenth for long durations.
Also, there are blood clotting disorders where pregnant women are encouraged to take baby aspirin along with their other medications.
I was told most doctors don't recommend taking aspirin....but they don't recommend alot of other things either.

Yep, my doctor told me that three meds are OK during pregnancy - Tums, Gaviscon, and extra strength Tylenol. That's it.
So you should be just fine I already had to do it once for a tooth ache!

There is tension in my shoulders and neck from leaning over the computer at work...I bought a massager and that seems to have helped for now...I will keep using that...and I am going to try to avoid the tylonel. I did have a timmies this morning, and that helped as well.
