I had my carseat check apt. yesterday and was told the carseat we have may have been in an accident. I'm SO glad we had it checked out, because it's in pretty darn good shape, and I never would have even THOUGHT about this. It was given to us by a friend of a friend several months back. Anyway, he suggested we go buy a new one. The current one we have is a Graco Travel System, and I would like to get another travel system as well. Safety is our biggest concern...What do you ladies recommend?

Good thing you got the carseat checked out! I've read that carseats are one of those baby items that you should try to buy new if possible or ensure that they haven't been in an accident.

Mari has a Chicco Keyfit travel system, but I've heard that Graco Travel Systems are great to and rated quite high for safety as well.

You could always try to to the Carseat Board as well, I'm sure the ladies there could give you some great advice!

HTH!!

That's scary! That's why I'll never take or buy a hand-me-down car seat. Even if it's from someone you trust, you just never know.

Graco makes great travel systems. They have lightweight & full size ones. We got the Alano system (it's lightweight) for Christian and plan on using it with the next baby. With the Alano, the car seat only goes to 22 lbs (it's a SnugRide). Graco now has a couple of seats that go to 30lbs (SafeSeat) and 32lbs (SnugRide32), so you may want to look into the travel systems that include higher weight limit seats so you can get more use out of them for your money.

You can also check out the Chicco Cortina travel system. I would still love to have one of these for the new baby but I can't justify buying a brand new (& more expensive) travel system when we have one that's in perfect condition. If you do look into these, make sure it's the Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System (car seat goes to 30lbs) other than the 22lb one. You will get more use out of the car seat.

Thank goodness you got the carseat checked out!

I got the metrolite graco travel system... it comes with the snugride 32 carseat. From what I've been told, it's supposed to be very good.

We're getting this one (my mom got it for us for Christmas but im not supposed to know yet, shhhh, lol)

Graco Quattro Tour Sport Travel System Stroller - Boone - Graco - Babies "R" Us

I've heard good things about Graco and we have another Graco carseat as a backup thats almost two years old and still in excellent condition. The only thing i would like is if the weight limit on the carseat is a little higher but hopefully it'll last us through babies first year

Oh wow. Did they tell you why they think it was in an accident? Was there a crack or have some warping? Just curious.

I like the Graco snugride....and it's priced very wallet friendly compared to other

I have the Chicco Cortina but it only goes up to 22 lbs. I LOVE it but I'm kicking myself for only getting the 22 lb one. They're easy to install, easy to use, and the stroller is so easy to maneuver. Although, if I had the chance to go back - I'd just get the Chicco Keyfit carseat with a Snap N Go stroller to make my life easier. It is somewhat bulky but what TS isn't?

I definitely recommend getting the Keyfit 30.

I got the Graco snug ride 32 quattro travel system. DH installed it last weekend and it was super easy. I like the bigger car seat for baby because it will go to both 32 pounds and 32 inches long giving us more use out of it.

There are just some "stress marks" on the plastic. I honestly don't think it was in an accident, but rather was just used through a few kids and it's a bit worn on the plastic. It looks almost brand new, and it never even crossed my mind that there could be something wrong with it. Thanks for all your opinions ladies! We are going to go buy a new one this weekend.
