I will be almost 7 weeks on Christmas and we are ready to tell my in-laws. Only problem is that I am in LPN school and I graduate in May... no problem... right?? Well... my MIL has told me multiple times I was not allowed to have children until after I got done with RN school!!! Which could be years from now!! I will be 25 in July... I'm pretty sure I'm plenty old enough to make my own decisions... anyway... whether they are ready to hear it or not... we are ready to tell them! So... I bought little baby mittens and little Christmas bags and I am going to make tags that say.... Grandma... Aunt... and so on.. They are so cute! We are going to have them all open them at the same time!!! Once I get them all made up.... I will take a picture!

you know my mom kept telling me not to have kids but she was THRILLED to be a grandma. She is in total grandma mode now and can't wait for me to get pregnant again...so moral of this story is your MIL may have a change of heart! I hope!! Very cute idea Kara!

My mother always said "You better not have kids until I'm 50!" My mother just turned 46 and we had our first in April. I was TERRIFIED to tell her but I pretty much figured if I was old enough to be married I was old enough to make my own decisions about pregnancy. I was 24 when I got PG and when I told her - she was in a bit of shock but she was the most excited grandma-to-be there could be! She is in love with her granddaughter and takes her pretty much every weekend (my mother thinks she has partial-custody .. looney tune ) and she spoils her 100%!

I'm sure everything will go great and I can't wait to see pictures

Well, just a different perspective. Many LVN to RN transition programs only take a year, so just tell her that and once baby comes and you get comfortable with your new life....go back!

That's a very cute way to tell them! I'm sure your MIL will have a change of heart once she hears the great news
