So I subscribe to Oxygen Magazine and in the Fall 2009 special issue "Off the Couch" there was this interesting article and I thought I would share. I especially like the last one!!! Here it is:
  1. You'll be in a better mood for up to 12 hours afterward according to a study presented at the American College of Sports Medicine's annual meeting in May 2009.
  2. You'll sleep better, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
  3. You'll remember things better. A study in Neurology found that those who exercise are more likely to be mentally fit along with being physically fit.
  4. You could reduce the rick of premature death from breast cancer. Woman who exercise are less likely to die from breast cancer, according to a new study by Canadian researchers.
  5. You could help others cope with breast cancer – and many more illnesses. Joining a group such as Team in Training can contribute to raising funds for a cure.
  6. You'll say “see you later” to cellulite. Forget creams and potions. Experts say the top way to diminish cellulite is through exercise.
  7. You'll live longer. New research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that people with high levels of physical fitness have a lower risk of all causes of death.
  8. You'll get the job, or the guy, you want. “Working out builds self-confidence,” says sport psychologist Craig Kain, “which can spread to other areas of a woman's life.”
  9. According to recent research, LDL (a.k.a bad cholesterol) in women can lower with regular exercise. A heart-health bonus.
  10. Your baby will be healthier. In a new 2009 study, Kansas City researchers found that if you're pregnant and exercising, your future bambino will have a strong heart.

Nice list! I have to agree with it. When I was barely sleeping and feeling my worst, working out always helped me feel better. I could barely drag myself out of bed some mornings, but would get a second wind after hitting the gym.

I've also noticed that when I work out I crave junk food less.

ugh is there a 3rd trimester exception to this rule? I was soooo good about it early on, but these last few weeks, I am just so tired after a day of work or cleaning the house that the thought of a brisk walk on the treadmill is just too much to bare.

Rachel...I so remember those 3rd trimester tired days!!! I would say, yes, you have an exception!!! Hang in there sweetie!!!

Valerie, I totally agree. When I work out, I tend to eat much better and take much better care of myself all around! Sometimes I just tell myself that I only have to go to the gym for like 10 minutes, then once I'm there, I get motivated and stay much longer!

Good job for working out the whole pregnancy. Like Rachel you guys have an exception...it's sooo hard when you feel that uncomfortable! I think it will help though once you give birth and get back into it!!
