We are going to be looking into adopting! I have always wanted to adopt... my desire has only gotten stronger since Kerrigan was born and been fueled by the horrible abuse cases that we get here at the hospital. We are going to adopt through fostercare. I know that they are always looking for placement for infants, because I already spoke to a social worker about it. I wouldn't mind an older child, but an infant is the only way I could convince DH. HE is TOTALLY on board with this, which kinda surprised me. I am soooo excited!!! I am gonna make the call on Monday to get some paperwork!

Oh, wow! That's amazing news! You should start an adoption blog or journal so we can all keep updated on your progress!
Good luck!

Gwen I am scared too, to be honest with you. You never know what kind of child you will get.... but you don't know what your child will be like born out of your body either. I figure.... it doesn't hurt to look into it. It doesn't mean I have to commit to it.... but I want to at least inquire. From the reading I have done, it takes about a year from the day that you call... give or take a month I am sure. By then Kerrigan will be 18 months old.
I can't save them all, but I can save one.

That's awesome! DH and I have been discussing this a lot lately too. He is open to whatever I want. I can't decide if we have a third if I want to do the pregnancy again (if we even can get prego again) or if I want to adopt. We both agree that if we adopt we'd probably wait a few years and then adopt a toddler that's a year or two younger than the girls.

Toni...I just wanted to add that I know first hand how well a family can work with biological and adopted children. I have 7 siblings, one of the 7 was adopted as an infant. My parents never made it a secret that he was adopted, but we never made a big deal out of it either. He's just one of the gang. DH and I are closer to him than any of my other brothers. I've talked to him about the possibility of DH and me adopting a child and he and his wife (who was adopted as a toddler) both think it's a great idea.

Toni that is so awesome, I hope that all goes well for you guys. Dh and I also considered this as my in-laws do this too, but for us it would be really hard because in the state we live in they make you take a TON of classes to become foster parents and it would NEVER work out with my husband work schedule, so that basically means we cant do it, which is really sad for us, but also really aweful that there are children out there that could be given a good home, but because they make it so difficult for us to do the classes we cant.

I just want to thank EVERYONE for their love and support. I am excited and nervous about this at the same time. I am going to make a blog for all of you to follow if you wish. It'll be easier for you guys to stalk our progress that way. LOL That is if I ever update it. LOL

Val... I hear ya. I honestly didn't enjoy being pg... and I know every pg is different.... but who knows if we would even be able to... and do I really want to go through fertility tx again? I think adopting a toddler is awesome! I *might* be able to convince DH of that... but one step at a time right? LOL

Like I said... whenever you are ready, you can always look into it.... it doesn't mean you have to commit to it

Awww thanks Erika. I considered this quite a while ago too... and we couldn't because the classes conflicted with our schedules too.... God works in mysterious ways though as DH got laid off about 2 1/2 wks before X-mas. So now his schedule is completely open. LOL I will request what days I need off for work. Maybe... something will work out for you and Matthew when the time is right.
