Our new kitchen is almost done (finally). I think I need the following items to get me cooking up a storm. Please tell me if you have them, or think I should get them. Suggestions on specific ones to get are welcomed (welcome? I never know which word to use). Funnily enough, a lot of them I could have already been using while my kitchen was decommissioned.

A 12 inch stir fry pan
A cast iron grill/griddle
A breadmaker
A rice cooker
A pressure cooker
A dutch oven
A cast iron skillet
A steamer

I love my bread machine. I make bread almost every week in it and have since I got it 8 or 9 years ago. I'm amazed how well it's held up. I have one that makes a long loaf, not a tall one. I highly suggest you get one like that if you get one. I make most of our own bread in it instead of buying bread at the store.

We have a griddle that I love to use for pancakes and grilled cheese. That's about all I use it for, but it's nice to have. We also have a cast iron skillet. It's not a really nice one. We use it on the grill for fajitas. We put our veggie basket on one side and the skillet on the other side. We've used it camping and for some other things, but not many. We also have a stir fry pan that's non-stick. It's the only non stick pan we own. I love to use it. Stir fry pans don't cook much though when you start thinking about cooking for a family. DH and I can eat most of what I cook in ours at one meal.

We don't have any of the other items.

I love our electric griddle... although we only use it for pancakes...

We also just got an electric skillet for X-mas... DH is really excited about that

Than of course we have 2 crockpots- did you know you can make breads and cakes in them? Me neither till I got this recipe book.

A 12 inch stir fry pan a necessity in my world!
A cast iron grill/griddle eh. No.
A breadmaker I would love one if we had the room, but we have a tiny kitchen
A rice cooker I don't really understand the need for this? Won't just a regular old pot work?
A pressure cooker We don't have one, and I haven't missed it.
A dutch oven We don't have one, but would like one when we have more room. . .
A cast iron skillet We have two but don't ever use them
A steamer Now this I love--we have a large stock pot with a steamer insert and then a small steamer tray and both are used quite a bit here.

Can you tell we aren't gourmets???? Actually, the main issue is that our kitchen is TINY. Someday. Someday.

Although I don't have the stir fry pan, I LOVE my Circulon pots and pans, and the company makes a stir fry pan. I got mine at Kohl's. I told my mom to get them, she did, and also loves them. They're totally nonstick, and in fact they tell you to not even use nonstick sprays like Pam. I have a gas stove, but my mom has electric and the brand works well on both.

As for the rice maker, I bought a really cheap one at Target a few years ago that also doubles as a steamer! It's great. This is the one I have: RC61 - Rival® 6 CUP RICE COOKER RED - Rival Products.

I got my iron skillet for my birthday, it's this one Lodge 12" Pre-Seasoned Skillet : Target, and it's fabulous.

I would love a breadmachine....I asked my mom for one for Christmas but she got me a vacuum instead!

The only thing that I use often that hasn't been listed is a dehydrator. I love beef jerky and I can make it either just as good or better than what can be bought in stores. You can also dry fruits....apples are one of my favorites although they are a little time consuming to prep because of the blanching and citric acid wash but they are really good.

I also have a family size electric griddle that I use (and like) to cook breakfast on...pancakes, french toast and sausage. And I totally agree with Courtney on the rice cooker, a regular pot will work just as well - with my old rice cooker, it was harder to clean because I couldn't easily soak it due to the cord.

A rice cooker ~ don't have one...
A pressure cooker ~ have one but used maybe once...
A dutch oven ~ not sure what a dutch oven is~ lol
