This is Karen's DH writing and update for Karen. Karen's heart rate and blood pressure were high today at her cardiologist appt. She was told to go immediately to the hospital for monitoring. Baby was doing well, but the high bp persisted until late in the evening. Her protein levels were fine, but the creatinine (sp?) ratio was high, which may lead the OB to c-section or induce. She also was having mild contractions which started this afternoon. She is currently in the hospital for overnight observation. We will know more tomorrow and I will try to update then. She is quite miserable in the hospital, but is thinking of all the other mommies to be and hopes you are all doing well.
-Sean
Will cross post in Jan 10 Due date club.
*Update 12/30 LONG!*
I just got home this afternoon. I stayed about 24 hours. My blood pressure and heart rate are up and down so they are having difficulty making a decision about needing to deliver or not. They finally decided to release me after another set of labs today came back normal. Connor is doing fabulous both on the monitors and on the ultrasound. He was practicing breathing and was doing really well so they think his lungs are ready to go whenever we have to deliver. He also opened and closed his eyes and was a real cutie for the camera. I am on strict bed rest but it's not too much of an adjustment since I was already very restricted. And, I have to go back to the hospital twice a week for NST's and biophysical profiles as well as blood pressure monitoring.
Yesterday I started contracting every 2 minutes but they think it was due to dehydration since they wouldn't let me have any water until my blood pressure was under control. Contractions hurt! My cervix is still pretty much closed so I still have a ways to go before this baby is going to be delivered. They may decide to induce at anytime so I have to be ready to go.
The good news is my OB has been consulting with a high risk OB and they decided to let me try for a vag delivery! The was it would work is they would keep me super comfortable and calm during labor (no option for no epidural). They will let the baby labor all the way down by himself as long as we are both tolerating it. Then I will either push very non frequently or they will have to do an assisted delivery without me pushing. They will wait until Connor is crowning before trying to deliver. It's not the ideal situation because I hate the idea of an assisted delivery, but it's this or an automatic c-section. I know vag deliveries are better for both baby and mom especially when I'll probably be a little on the early side so I think it's a good option for now. Also, they warned me that plans could change if my heartrate or blood pressure start to go up, we would go straight for a c-section so I have to be flexible. I just want him out safe.
I ready for this to be over but I know we only have a few more weeks to go. That's all for now. I will update as things change.

Sean, you rock! Thanks for updating us. I am glad Karen is under close monitoring, even if she is miserable. It sounds like her medical team is making sure that she and the baby stay as healthy as possible.

Karen, I'm so glad they sent you home to rest. Get all the rest you can (I know you have been!!) At least you are technically full term so I think that's best. It sounds like you got the best possible results so I'm happy about that. Can you believe in a few short weeks you will be holding your precious baby boy!!! Well, again take care of yourself and keep us updated!! BTW you have the sweetest husband to update all of us!!
