Apparently I am full of questions today!

I'm sorry if this is TMI, but I could really use some help! My prenatals are making me very constipated! I will honestly go 2-3 days without going to the bathroom and then when I finally do go it is really, really hard to go! TMI...but, my stool is so hard that it is making it really painful! Is there anything I can do, even certain foods to eat/not eat to make going to the bathroom a little more frequent and easier!

Sorry for the TMI question ladies, but thanks in advance for your advice!

I just wanted to add that anything with fiber (and they have the yogurt with added fiber as well) should also help. Medimucil (sp) may work for you as well, also stool softeners may work as well and are usually safe in pregnancy. Here's an article on it and other methods that may help

At my first prenatal visit this week I got a bunch of prenatal samples and one of them has a stool softener in it! Maybe you can ask your doctor to switch you to one like that!

Thanks girls! I didn't even know that they made prenatals with stool softners in them! I will ask my dr. about this at my appointment on monday! And I have been drinking tons of water, the only problem is that I'm puking so often that it is hard to always keep it down!

I know that I had horrible constipation during the first trimester, but it has been somewhat better in the second, so you have that to look forward to.

You should ask your doctor about it. Lots of women have this problem throughout pregnancy so many docs have tips and tricks to help you out. I didn't really have a problem until I started an iron supplement in the third tri.
