Alright ladies... so i have a bit of a dilemma, and i'm curious what you guys think i should do...
My sister is getting married next August, approximately 4 months after i'm set to give birth and i'm the Matron Of Honor of course. So i need to order my dress within the next couple of months most likely and i really dont know what size to get. I also got my wedding dress from Alfred Angelo and at the time i was "perfect" proportions for the way they sized (my wedding dress didnt need any alterations) but of course i have no idea what type of shape i'm going to be in. So should i order my pre baby size? Maybe a size larger then my pre baby size (since if i'm BFing bbs might be bigger or something)?
I admit i can be lazy at times as far as working out so that makes me really nervous but i'm going to work really hard to be back into decent shape because i dont want to be looking at my sisters wedding pictures and be disgusted with how i look if you guys get what i mean.
Shes about 80% sure this is the dress we'll be getting, so i'm actually pretty please its a very forgiving style, but the flowiness could also end up looking horrible if i'm still rocking a big ol gut under it!
So what do you guys think? Right now i'm leaning towards one size bigger then my pre baby size, because if i do lose weight its easier to take in the to let out if i dont right?
Alfred Angelo... Find the perfect Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, Prom Dress, Flower Girl Dress or Mother of the Bride Dress at Alfred Angelo.
Oh and it'll most likely be Charcoal gray with a blue (she hasnt picked which blue) sash

Well, here's my thoughts. How much have you gained so far? How well do you think your body will bounce back after you have the baby? I started working out with my trainer 8 weeks PP and so about 16 weeks PP I don't think I could officially fit back into my stuff. I don't think a lot of people can fit back into their old stuff just 4 months after giving birth, so I think it would be smart to go one size bigger than normal...if for nothing else the BBs size!! If your are BF your bbs are gonna be out of control...at least mine were. That dress is SUPER cute by the way!!!

Well i'm 25 weeks (tomorrow) and at my last appt i was up 11lbs (which i think was actually more like 9 or 10 because i was wearing a jacket, boots etc but whos nitpicking ). Now of course i'm probably up a couple more pounds since my appt was in mid December but overall i would say i'm not doing TOO bad with weight so far.
Like i said, i admit i can be lazy as far as working out but i am and will be SUPER motivated this time, when i really WANT to do something it goes much better for me then when i'm just so so. Back in the beginning of last year i watched what i ate and worked out lightly and lost about 8-10lbs in 3 months i think it was? I know i'll be recovering from birth at first so i obviously can't do too much but even just walking with him is okay after a couple of weeks right? It'll be spring so it'll help that i can get outside vs having to rely on a treadmill (which i hate)
I'm not sure if i'll be BF-ing yet

I am the matron of honor in my best friends wedding in March (about 2 months after I give birth). After much discussion with the ladies at the bridesmaid shop we decided to go up 2 sizes. It's easier to take a dress in than to let it out. Plus, I figured because of the breastfeeding I would need a bigger size on top anyway.
Do you have someone you know who sews really well? They could take a dress in for you no problem and still make it look just like the original. If it needs to come out, it might end up looking different.

It's a lot easier to take a dress in than let one out. You're much better off ordering bigger than you need than not big enough. Your boobs will probably be bigger from breastfeeding, so your pp size may not fit even if you're in great shape. If the dress is a stretchy material then you have more to work with than if it's typical satiny bridesmade material that doesn't have much stretch.

I'd go a size up - you can always have it taken in

I just wanted to say that be sure that when you are getting a size that it is bigger than your wedding dress size...even if you think you will be back down to that size...as wedding dresses fit differently that bridesmaid dresses. (they hug you more or something) My sister ordered one size bigger on her brides maid dress than her wedding dress cause she thought she would be pregnant for my wedding (long story, she got married 6 months before me) but she wasn't, and her dress was still too small...Just be aware of the fact that wedding dresses are made to be more fitted I guess is what I'm trying to say.

And another thing to think about it, though the weight may come off quickly your body completely changes after having a baby. So you may weigh the same, but clothes still won't fit right because your body just changes. So I say order at least one size bigger than you normally would. Talk to the dress shop (as someone else mentioned) I'm sure they've dealt with it before too. GL girl!!

Oh yeah im totally going to get it altered of course i just figured i wasnt sure exactly how many sizes i need to go up.
Marci - my wedding dress was actually two sizes larger then my usual size at the time so i was going to go off that as far as actual number but i was also going to call the store where i got my dress from and see if they had my exact measurements still and base my size around that

I have to agree with the others Sam... I think that you should absolutely go up at LEAST one size. If not just for your bbs - but you may need it for other areas as well. I remember BM dresses aren't the same sizes as your street clothes.
The good thing is that dress is beautiful! The cut of it looks like it would sit empire and shouldn't be that snug. Can't wait to see the result next year!

Oh i agree - okay so general consensus is 2 sizes then? I'll obviously talk to the store people but i think maybe thats what i'll go with, basing the size off my measurements from before (hopefully they still have them on file or whatever)
And yes, thank goodness is a forgiving style so it really seems like the only place it needs to fit fit is the top... part of the reason my sister picked that style is because one of her bridesmaids is trying to get pregnant so shes hoping it'll even work for her!

I think 2 sizes is good idea. The shop will have lots of experience with this, so you can always ask them too.
My sister was my Matron of Honor only 2 weeks after she had a baby. She had only ordered 1 size bigger, and it was pretty tight.
On the other hand, if you don't gain much weight while pg you might not have an issue. I only gained 11 pounds and was back in my pre-pg clothes 2-3 weeks after I gave birth.

I would say go up two sizes. Even if you are back at your normal weight by that point, your shape may change and it could he hard to fit into even 1 size bigger. You could also check the seams to see how much "extra" material you have to work with, but I would bet its not much. 2 sizes seems safe to me!
Just to add in my expierence, I stood up in a wedding when I was 7.5 months pg and I had to purchase my dress when I was 2 months along. The lady at the dress shop (who said she knew what she was doing) told me to only go up 1 size. This would have given me an extra inch or so right under my boobs. (And the dress was a very forgiving style) I was debating, but decided to go up 2 sizes. The lady tried to talk me out of it. But, I stood my ground. Turns out, I should have gone up 3 sizes and they had to take material out of the hem to add to the sides of the dress. I was super uncomfy all night!
Anyway, moral of the story is, trust you gut! (hehe....literally in this case I guess)
