Is it weird or inappropriate at all to put nursing pads and cream on my baby registry? I wasn't sure if i should just buy this stuff myself or if it was a common thing to put on there.

Also if you would like to give me recommendations of "must have" items or things you couldn't live without that would be great

I don't think that's inappropriate at all!! I even registered for a breast pump...didn't get it, but I still registered for it. Who knows some BTDT moms might buy you some!!

I tell you the one thing that we couldn't have lived without (grant it Paige was colicky) the Miracle Blanket!!

I did have them on mine intially along with a pump, but got a pump from my aunt who couldnt use it. I think as long as you are comfortable with it, then its ok. I found with the pads though I went through a few brands till I found one I liked (I like johnson and johnson the best right now). The cream and pads are cheapier than most registry items so I just ended up buying them.

We couldn't live w/o his swing, boppy pillow (for nursing), burp cloths, bouncy seat, extra crib sheets, sleep positioner, pack and play with bassinet, swaddle blankets Summer Infant SwaddleMe Cotton Knit Adjustable Infant Wrap - Blue (Small) - Summer Infant - Babies "R" Us ... thats all I can think of for right now! You can also never have enough towels, wash cloths, blankets, we thought we had an insane amount and end up using them all the time.

Ohhh we always put him in a gown to sleep, makes middle of the night changes much easier (no zippers or buttons)Gerber 2 Pack Cotton Gown - Boy - Gerber Childrenswear - Babies "R" Us.

Ok I keep thinking of more things... we have to use sensitive wipes on him right now and registered for regular wipes so ended up getting a ton of those that we are just waiting to use!

I registered for that stuff and when we did our cyber shower in our DDC, my girl got me that stuff and it was great!! I also bought a whole "nursing" gift from my cousin's wife off her registry and she really appreciated it.

A few things I can't live without:
swaddle me blankets (Bella still uses these each night to sleep)
boppy (for feeding and a place to hang out)
swing (she takes her naps during the day in this)
dishwasher basket (its so convenient to wash her bottles with a load of dishes!)
bouncy chair (Bella only goes in when I need to shower, cook, etc. She's not a fan of it to hang out in)

all babies are different so BTDT moms will tell you different things. Some babies hate to be swaddled while others (like mine) can't sleep well unless they are. Some hate the swing but can't live without the bouncy. So, my suggestion is to register for all of these things and see what you get!

No one bought the breast pump I put on my registry, but I did get some nipple cream and nursing pads. I wasn't sure if anyone was going to buy them but was pleasantly surprised. To me it wasn't embarassing because I figured everyone knows you need these things when you nurse.

I'm going to be blunt here because I'm in that mood today, but this is how I feel about it.

You had SEX. You got PREGNANT. Now they're coming to celebrate the baby and bring you gifts for when you push it out of your VAGINA.

Body parts should not = embarrassed anymore LOL

I don't think nipple cream and nursing pads should be left off the registry - you should know what you're getting into if you get invited to a baby shower LOL

Besides, you might end up getting a few different brands (although I'd go with washable, everybody says the disposable end up costing an arm and a leg...) and have ones for different uses and different cup sizes, since that can vary.

My only concern in having nursing pads on the list is that some women have to buy them early... Like my BFF, who is leaking on a daily basis in her 2nd tri - she isn't going to register for them, she's buying them this week LOL

GL hunnie! And don't be afraid to put anything on your registry, except maybe the big overnight pads - those might be a little too over the line. But everything else - go for it! If people think its gross, most people are too nice to say anything and just won't buy it.

I registered for these things and got them! I definitely used the cream but barely used the pads at all. Some women leak tons and some very little so you really don't know!

My must haves:

  • Lots of Soothie pacifiers
  • Lots of pump horns and membranes
  • Kiddapotamus Swaddle Me's
  • Papasan Chair (couch level)
  • Travel System
  • Lots of plain gerber onesies in all sizes
  • Fleece zipper sleepers or sleep sacks
  • boudreaux butt paste
  • Johnson's BEDTIME baby wash and lotion
  • A BIG diaper bag
  • Lots of bottles and nipples (although you may want to wait because you may not know which ones your LO will take to)
  • Our parents bought us both the swing and pack and play (which were expensive and take up lots of room) and my LO will have nothing to do with either! He prefers the papasan chair or bouncy seat.
  • Also- the boppy lounger is a MUST have. I don't think I've heard anyone who's LO didn't love it, especially in the early days.
  • IMO- don't waste money on dreft. We used it once and never again.

Good luck!! It's so much fun

It's not weird AT ALL!!!! I am using nursing pads so much and I'm glad I put them on my registry. I'd say put anything you will need on there.
