So - DH & I have pretty much agreed on a name for our little man.
We like:
Nicholas Paul
DH father is named Nicola - he's Italian... my dad passed away 12 years ago - and he was Paul.
The thing is - I think we may spell Nicholas different.. what do you think?

I wanted to be the first to answer. I've been waiting...
Nikolas...I think that's one that I like. Or Nikkolas...I can't decide if I like the two K's but I think I like it better with just one.

What about Nickolas? I tend toward traditional spellings anyway, but thought that might be an option

I voted traditional. I'd feel bad my kids name would always be misspelled if I changed it!

Thanks everyone! You've made me think now...
My name is spelled different - and I know it's always been a bit tough in school and even in the working world.. maybe the traditional is the way to go.

I voted Nicolas but I also like Nicholas. It's becoming more common nowadays kids have different spelling and more teachers are recognizing to follow the spelling. I know many kids have different names and they didn't have problems.
I have a cousin named Nick aka Nicholas.

I voted traditional b/c of my own name.
My mom spelled my name Stefanie and it has been spelled wrong my entire life ...I always have to spell it for people, always.

For me, my name is a boy name and I'm a female... I've had letters saying Mr. ______ or expect to see me as a male when I first meet them at an interview or they'd be like oh this is a mistaken spelling and change it to Erin.. I'm like NO! But lately, I have had not had any problems. ..............so far... knock on wood

My name is not that uncomman, and my name is always spelt wrong as well, so I'm not sure if necessarily spelling it the comman way makes a difference? That's just my oppinion.
