Connor is finally here. January 22, 8 pounds 4 oz, 20 inches long. He is so cute and I never imagined I could be so memorized by anything so tiny.
I was induced Thursday because of high blood pressure again. My blood pressure returned to normal again but they decided there was no point in just waiting until Saturday. The pit started around 3:30pm and Connor was born the next morning at 11:00am exactly.
Labor was tough. My water broke on it's own around 2am and I went quickly from 2cm to 8cm by 5am and complete by my next check at 7am. I got an epidural when the pain got very intense but unfortunently it only worked on the left side and not the right so the contractions were still pretty strong. When it came time to push, Connor was in the "left occiput transverse" which made it very difficult. I had a fantastic nurse who helped me push on my left side and we were able to have a vaginal delivery. My heart rate also made it difficult, but I had a great nurse and doctor who really gave me the freedom to tell them if I couldn't tolerate it any longer. I think if I had any other OB I would have ended up as a c-section.
I pushed for almost 3 hours total and ended up with three tears including one up the inside of the vagina and a third degree tear all the way to the rectum. OUCH! Recover is not easy but I am feeling pretty good and am happy to have my baby here.
Connor had some difficulty breastfeeding and got pretty jaundice. So we are seeing the pediatrician daily for now. We are working hard with the breastfeeding and are getting better every day. It's hard to stick with it but I am glad I did and he is doing so much better.
It's nice to be home and I can't wait to be able to catch up with what has been going on with everyone else.
