... I need some entertainment, so how about an O/T thread?

My DH always screws up Valentines day... Our first, he won hockey tickets on the night we met for the v-day game (Canucks, my favourite team, but I had never been...) - promised to take me, and instead ditched me and took one of his buddies while ignoring my phone calls for a week.

Second, we went camping, but he got us lost in the woods and didn't even say happy v-day on the big day or do anything romantic...

So I'm not expecting much this year. Maybe if he remembers, an "oh yeah - happy valentines."

I'd like to live vicariously through you girls - so, what was your most romantic v-day with your SO? Has he ever done something really special?

Or are you like me, and hate the holiday because it was supposed to be BETTER when you're not single, but it still sucks. LOL

Lets share!

Cheryl, B is a Valentine's day moron. I have had ONE good Vday with him and unfortunately it was the night before he left to go back over seas. It was very sad but at that point i was used to it b/c it was his 3rd trip! But anyway, he hid jewelry in my room (and I am not a neat freak) so i never saw it. He got mad at me b/c he said i didn't care!! But in the end i'm like how did you ever expect me to find that. I don't think he bought me jewelry again until he proposed!!

This is about to be a great valentine's day though!

My DH isn't a big fan of V-day, basically because its a commercialized holiday. He'd rather surprise me with "just because" things! But we usually do dinner and cards and candy and such. Nothing just super spectacular, just nice date nights. My favorite just because gift though was a dinner he cooked for me (DH does NOT cook!!!) But he went through all this trouble to make a steak dinner with mashed potatoes and salad and rolls and made this super cute dessert with ice cream and berries. There was a dozen red and pink roses and champagne and candles and the sweetest note all set up on the dinner table when I got home from work! I was stressed out with work and school and TTC and it was just really nice to come home to such a sweet gesture for no reason at all except that he loves me!

My DH isn't into commercial holidays but he always like to do sweet things - even when it's not for a holiday. We usually do a really nice date night and a movie and get each other something special. He is taking me to my favorite restaurant this year now that we live near one again - Fogo de Chao (it's a brazilian steakhouse) - Home::Fogo de Chao but we normally do Red Robin since that is where our first date was.

One year I did a nice scavenger hunt for him after he had done an elaborate one for me one Xmas which was really cool. It wasn't anything expensive but the unique things we got for each other made it special. I made little scrolls with burned edges which looked really crafty and cool. For my scavenger hunt he had cards printed up at Kinko's using this picture from our Rehearsal Dinner (back when he weighed a buck fifty! LOL! now he's 185 and nicely filled out thanks to some yummy southern cooking!) and had awesome riddles he had created inside them.

My annual exam at my OB one year, I came out and DH was in the waiting room with 3 cards and flowers. We had just started our fertility treatment journey and he knew how much I was dreading the Pap so it was a really sweet suprise. He drove me to the appointment on base and everything.

Flowers when he was deployed overseas

Earrings one Valentine's Day

This was from one Valentine's day. &

This year he got me a new wallet to match my purse (aka Glorified Diaper Bag). Which is nice to grab and go for quick trips to the store when I don't want to carry a large purse.

For him, we're replacing his Xbox 360 Elite that died on us last fall and getting hime Final Fantasy (whatever the new one is that is coming out).

He is always doing really thoughtful sweet things & I thank God for him every day. He is such a blessing! When we were PCS'ing (moving across country to a new Air Force Base) we were living like gypsies so he suprised me with a few things to reduce my stress levels -a new GPS, a pink chair (since all our furniture was packed and picked up and it was nada in our house until we left),
walkie talkies for the drive since we were driving both cars, some Ghirardelli Chocolates and a pedi thing for my feet to keep them nice and soft and lap desks for our laptops.

No matter how crazy life gets, as long as we have each other we have the best time!
