How did you guys organize your little ones dressers/closets? What sizes did you keep out? Did you keep onesies in a drawer or hang them up? And what about sleepers?

Right now i'm thinking i'll have out preemie - 3-6 months since i have no idea how fast he'll grow but im kind of stumped as to how to organize things. I can't decide if "undershirt" type onesies should go in a drawer but "outfit" type ones should get hung up or what... and pants, those will all go in a drawer but should i try to separate jeans and other types from just plain sweats? Also right now i have his jammies hung up because his closet is fairly big i have room for it but idk if thats really efficient or not.

Will i really not care or stick to anything i've intially spent all this time agonizing over once Michael is home ? Will i just throw organization out the window? lol.

Well IDK how its going to play out since baby is still 6 months away LOL but I did some initial organizing last night with the hand-me-down clothes I have, and here is how I organized it for now - maybe it'll help?

I have a 6 drawer dresser for clothes, the top two are dedicated to receiving blankets & socks in one, diapers & wipes in another (its also my changing table LOL)

All the onesies are in a drawer. Together. I'm thinking ahead for efficiency, and I know it will be vastly easier to have things organized by type, and every day stuff in drawers (think fold, put away vs. hang up in the closet).

The sleepers are all in a drawer together. These two drawers are side by side, since I think they'll be the most used.

Then pants have their own drawer all together, jeans and sweats all in the same but I did get a LOT of jeans hand-me-down and very few sweats, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

Then the last drawer is for blankets.

I have all the special outfits, jackets, sweaters, dresses, etc. hanging up in the closet.

For now, it all seems to work... It seems like it'll be easy to keep it that way once baby is born, since only rarely used items are hung up, and everything else is just organized into 3 categories and tossed in drawers - sleepers, pants, onesies & diaper shirts. Eventually the blanket drawer will be dedicated to shirts, but not until baby is actually wearing shirts LOL

Hope that helps! I know I don't have baby yet, but it always helps me to hear other people's plans to help me get everything sorted out

My stuff isn't that well organized. Newborn and 0-3 in top drawer and all larger clothes in bottom drawer. No real system to it other than keeping footed onesies in one stack and everything else in another.

Top drawer of the dresser has undershirt type onesies and pajamas.

Second drawer has the current size clothes. L-R I keep one piece outfits, two piece outfits folded together, shirts, and then pants.

Third drawer is the next size up.

The side section of his dresser holds blankets, extra sheets, and extra wipes.

In the closet, I keep sweaters, fancier clothes, and stuff that doesn't fit yet. I also keep a Rubbermaid bin on the closet shelf where I throw stuff that is too small to store for the next baby.

I also have two shelves in the closet with tons of small Rubbermaid bins. These shelves fit under the hanging clothes. Bins include:
-cloth diapers
-receiving blankets
-bibs
-burp cloths
-hats and shoes
-socks
-extra pads and sheets for the changing table
-bath towels and washcloths

This system has worked really well for us. Let me see if I can find a pic. This was from before he was born, so things look a little different now. But you get the idea.

If you are just looking for ideas, here is a pic of what I've done so far. I don't have a dresser and won't be getting one, so the lined baskets will be used as like drawers/extra storage. I have burp cloths, socks, sweats and cheap onsie's in them. I tend to hang everything else up.

To add: the baskets above the clothes are for extra blankets, sheets, etc.....and the white baskets have freebies, creams/lotions and stuff like that.

I don't have many hand me down clothes yet...or clothes in general, but anything that is 0-6 months right now is hung up...anything bigger than that is in a drawer in my dresser, (since baby doesn't have one yet.

I have arranged my closet and dresser by size. I have a lot of hand me downs and most of those are in the drawers except the really nice ones. Most of the new stuff is in the closet arranged by size. I have only hung or put up the gender neutral stuff. The gender specific items are arranged by size and gender and in an organizer with baskets. I have already washed everything as well. My next washing load will be after my shower in March so that everything is ready when baby arrives.
