OMG what a mess....it was 3 hours long. I kid you not. Everything went fine as far as the baby goes, i met with the nurse/OB coordinator, learned how their office works the OBs, I will still see my dr. in the end but will see all three so i can be familiar with them all in case one of them is on call when the baby is born. So anyway we do the basics and she takes me BP and it was high, of course. I knew it would be. We're fairly certain I have white coat hypertension, which is basically elevated BP because of anxiety in a dr. office. So anyway, she takes it again, still high. We got have our meeting. We do it again, still high, i go do labs (talked her into a progesterone and beta) and then she checked it manually. Still high. So she goes and talks to the OB and she says to have me go upstairs and meet with this PA in a general practice clinic. This guy and his nurse were great...and guess what my BP was normal the entire time i was up there...but it was a circus. I got my TB test scheduled for work though so it all worked out in the end. But now i have to take my BP twice a day for the next 2 weeks b/c they want it monitored b/c he said you seem fine but with the family history we don't want you getting into your third or fourth month and find out you have borderline hypertension or whatever. So we're just hoping i'm fine fow now. After the 7-8 viles of blood i had to give i am wiped though!!

Glad everything is okay baby wise! What a long appointment I think my first appointment was 15-20 minutes Lol. I had pretty high BP at that appointment too. When do you get your first ultrasound?

Sorry about the BP. My BIL has the same issue with high BPs at the doc's office. He told his doc that he knew a nurse who could take his BP, and I did and it was totally normal away from the office. I really hope this doesn't continue to be a cause of stress for you. Can't wait till your u/s!

Casey, at one point in their office it was 176/108 and then i went upstairs and the highest she ever got was 122/86.

In other news i did get to hear how fantastic my heart is and he asked me if I worked out or used to! Yay for good cardiac health!!!

My first appointment was long too. Glad it went well! I am always surprised that my BP is normal in the DRs office because I am usually SOOOO nervous.

Are you in a big office? My ob's office is huge....it's like a mini-hospital and the wait is horrible; especially for the 5 minutes that I meet with my doctor.

Marci - no feelings really. I'd like to say its a boy, but i honestly don't know. I would say it could go either way. Brian says he doesn't make girls though...haha we'll see about that. I think we'd both like a boy but of course will be happy with either. Its just that there are not boy grandchildren yet so we'd like to have the first but I'm okay with a boy or a girl!!

I just hope the next 4 weeks fly by and we'll get to see the little monster!!
