Thanks for sharing! Its neat to see different methods when you're not *in* that state, you can kind of get a feel for what you're comfortable with and not without being so exhausted and frustrated you'll do nearly anything short of whiskey in a bottle LOL
I'm not a huge proponent of CIO myself, even Ferber (although I agree it is a gentler method) - I consider that a last resort approach, if none of the gentler methods work. If baby is as stubborn as me & daddy are, I could definitely end up using it though LOL
I'm a bit of an attachment parent, and really appreciate some of the research behind no-cry methods. But of course, every parent is different - millions of babies were brought up on CIO and turned out just fine, and millions more were brought up no-cry and played with the CIO kids later! I think its all just a matter of preference
Anyone who is interested in no-cry methods (which I love researching, because it will be my first choice) might be interested in "The no-cry sleep solution" by Elizabeth Pantley, I've seen some of her methods online and now have the book on hold at the library

I also like this article, from mothering magazine...
Pillow Talk | mothering - it is very anti-CIO (which I'm not, I see it as a reasonable alternative if others aren't working...) but regardless, offers lots of tips on how to effectively sleep train without tears
Thanks so much for sharing that! Seeing all of the people it has worked for, and seeing their frustration, really helped remind me that even if it isn't my cup of tea now - it might end up being that way in a year when baby JUST WON'T SLEEP. LOL!
