What do they feel like? Will I for sure know when I am having them?

I have been having pains really low in my pelvic regin, and I don't think they are contractions, but probably Rayanne just kicking me or stepping on something...(already she's walking all over me) but that, and Amanda going in to the hospital early with contractions has made me wonder if I will know what I am getting when I feel them.

Did you know they were contractions when you first felt them?

Can you discribe what they felt like?

they didnt feel painful more just uncomfortable, like when you get a leg cramp. It started feeling like a slow tightening of the uterus, get hard and then release. I would touch my belly and it was rock hard. It got pretty strong after awhile but they were never really what i would call painful. The dr said that it may not be very painful because of how far along i am. I think you will know.

I never had the overall belly tightening and maybe had BH once. The morning DD was born, I had sort of like intense menstrual cramps in the area you usually get them (but waaaaay more intense than that by the time things got going).

Thanks girls...I don't know why I'm thinking about this already, I guess with Sam going early, and Amanda in the hospital, it has just made me more conscience of the fact that ANYTHING can happen...I just want to be prepared, and know what I'm feeling you know??

you'll know when you feel something different going on with your body. It's usually the tightening feeling of your belly with some pressure associated with it. Or, camps. BH is usually just the tightening of your belly with no pain or discomfort involved.

If you are ever unsure, call your dr and they can talk you through what to do (typically go to triage for monitoring).

Early BH contrax for me were a tightening in my entire abdomen. My belly would feel hard as a rock. It would last for a few mins and then go away. I never had "real" contrax on my own until 4 hours of pitocin and the Dr. breaking my water. Those contrax were incredibly intense and there was no mistaking them. Infact, you can actually feel right before they are going to hit. Trust me chica, you will KNOW when you are having real contractions.

i had period pains for about a month which turned into nothing, when I did actually get contractions, for me it was like there was a vice on either side of my hips, it tightened, then released. I knew as soon as I had the 1st one. i guess its different for everybody, ive heard of some people only feeling them in their back, i guess it depends where bubba is maybe
