I just totally broke down crying to my husband. As excited as I am to meet my son, I am terrified to go into labor. The unknown of it all, combined with being in the hospital alone at night and doubting myself that I can be strong through labor, is terrifying to me. Was anybody else scared to deliver or did your excitement overrule your nervousness?

I was terrified!! In the end everything happened so fast (got to hospital at 2am and had Billy at 4:33am) I didn't have any time to comprehend what was happening. I think it was gods way of keeping me sane. It's TOTALLY normal to be nervous and excited. Trust your body and your doctor. The fear of the unknown is hard, but remember how many people give birth each day, it will be fine!!

I hope you find a way to get through the labor.

I'm not pregnant but I have been thinking about how the heck would I handle labor?

I was terrified! When my dr decided to induce me THAT day of my dr appt, I left her office crying like a baby. I was sooo scared, nervous, excited, all in one!

It'll be easier once you get to the hospital as it's not so bad going through it. The unknown is not good for a preggo's psyche, I agree!

But, you are going to do fantastic It's okay to be scared...I would be worried (as a first time mommy) if you weren't! HUGS!!!

Thank you ladies!! You really did make me feel better. I just hate the unknown, and as excited as I am (SUPER EXCITED!!), sometimes I start thinking, uh oh, this baby has to come out somehow. Thank you for the encouragement

I am just like you! I know I will be the crazy lady in the delivery room sobbing that I've changed my mind and I'm nowhere near as close as you yet!!

Girl I was terrified too, but I PROMISE you will be fine no matter what. Once labor starts you go into a "mommy mode overdrive" and ALL you care about is getting that baby out healthy and happy. Just try and think positive, and you will do great!

I remember thinking the same, but as soon as I broke waters it was like auto pilot, you just find the best way to do each stage and it will all be fine. I just wish I´d read the chapter on inductions more closely!! Also my DH was so nervous and such a wreck, that keeping him calm kept my mind off me!!

I seriously thought I had to be the most terrified pregnant woman ever to walk the planet!!!! hahaha..... and when it came to the day, I felt so calm, nothing was bad as far as pain, the iv, the contrax, the epidural... and then my worst fear ever, a csection after 12 hrs of labor, and even then I wasn't really scared, you just kinda lose yourself in the day So even that was a piece of cake!!!!! You will be fine

It is absolutely normal to be scared! But like the other ladies said, once labor starts, it'll get better... all you will be thinking of is meeting your LO

I was terrified of giving birth! But everything happens so quickly that you just get caught up in the moment and don't have time to really think about what's going on. I even ended up giving birth naturally (it honestly wasn't my first choice but now that it's over with, I'm glad I did) which I NEVER thought I'd do because I'm such a wuss for pain. I'm sure when the time comes, you'll be perfectly fine!

I already said it, but you ladies really did make me feel better. You're right - I think that thinking about the moment creates more anxiety than when you're actually living it. Thanks again!

Recently i haven't been nearly as terrified as i was before. Reading up on what to expect, taking my childbirth class, and other things i've done to learn about childbirth seem to have really helped. I went from being scared when i thought about it to being excited. I am still nervous of course and that's normal!

I'm sure you'll do wonderfully!

I'm definately excited and nervous. The only thing that scares me is thinking about the possible things that could go wrong. When those fears come up I try to focus on the end result which is the beautiful baby I will be holding in my arms instead and I automatically feel so much better.
