Just got back from my appointment and am still dilated just 1cm. I was pretty disappointed especially after feeling like I was making progress last week and having lost my mucous plug a couple days ago. I know people can go from 1cm to real labor quickly, but I now feel like this baby is going to hang around until I have to be induced. I really thought with my 12 hour work shifts and being on my feet for so long at work that it would help get some real contractions going. Anyway, for those with babies, how many cm dilated were you around 39 weeks or at your visit before labor started?

I was 0cm 0% at 39+2, I broke waters the following morning at 39+2 and without any contractions I was 4cm on arrival at hospital 6 hours later (24 hours after the 0cm 0% appt) and I never noticed any loss of mucus plug or cramps/discomfort, so it could be happening as we speak!!

Hang in there, the end is so hard!!
I was 40 weeks 4 days when I went into labor (on a Saturday) I had a doctors appt the Wednesday before and was 1cm and 100% so really it can happen anytime!! When I arrived at the hospital I was 5cm. I was walking 2-3 miles a day after work and think that helped a lot.

Not at all Sometimes I feel like the baby is just kind of popping up and down like it can't decide if it wants to drop or not. This has been happening for a couple weeks. I just need to remind myself how neat it would be if the baby came on St. Patty's day (the due date). I'm just so anxious to meet this LO it's driving me crazy!

I'm sorry!
I was not dilated at all at 41 weeks! Sorry that's more not encouraging to you, but that's what it was for me.

I think at 39 weeks I was at a 3 and 80% effaced or something like that...but like the others said it can happen any time. I know how anxious you must feel. Hang in there sweetie. Your LO will be here before you know it!!

Well, I was 37 weeks 2 days and my water broke, I never had a chance to even be checked. Anyway, I was at the hospital about 4-5 hours later and was dilated between 4-5 cm. Also, I never felt like Tori dropped at all.

I feel your pain - I'm not dilated at all yet, nor have I lost my mucus plug. Hopefully you won't need to be induced as you said. It gives me some comfort from the other ladies to know that you can go from 1cm dilated to having a baby all in one day.
Hope you continue to make progress

I'm not help in this department since I was 3cm at 37 weeks BUT my step SIL went from 1cm for about a week and a half to having her baby without ever dilating anymore in between. It CAN happen! Maybe by you getting checked will also help things along.
A St. Pattys Day baby would be awesome!! I keep trying to talk my sister into having her induction date for that day haha

Sorry to hear Casey.
At our prenatal classes, our instructor has said to try to not get checked at the doctor. She said that it's really uncomfortable and really can't tell you anything cause you can go from 0cm, -4 and like 20% and then be in labour that evening - or it could be a few more days.
I can't wait to meet your LO!

Connor never dropped and I really only dilated to 2cm before labor. But, I was induced at 40+3. However, he really was ready to come on his own because my water broke on it's own and I didn't need very much pitocin to start up contractions.
It will happen! I promise. Even though it feels like you're going to be pregnant forever now. Those last 2 weeks are the worst.
Hugs.....

well being dilated meant nothing for me! I was 2cm dilated at 36 weeks by the time I was 38 weeks I was 2.5-3 and then 39 onwards I was 3-4 depending on who did it.
I was induced at 41w 1d so being dilated didn't mean labor was near for me anyway!

I was 1cm and 60% at 35 weeks. I don't think it means too much! I hope that he or she decides to come out before an induction!!!! I'm sending some labor vibes your way sweetie!!!!
