Glad they are getting specific with carriers rather then just saying "slings". those slings always look dangerous to me. Ive been wearing DD since she was a newborn...mostly in wraps, and there is nothing dangerous about it...if done correctly. Those infantino sling riders looked weird...carriers are ment to keep babies close to your body, not over your shoulder like a purse...

My Dh was freaking out about this when he saw it on the news. He informed me all about it when I got up He did say to me that it didn't look like any of my baby carriers so that was good !!

Dh asked me to take off our sling which was a different brand and put back on our baby bjorn! So I did. I really wanted to try the sling but he will feel safer and will use the bjorn more.

The bjorn is actually less ergonomically correct for baby... Its reasonably safe, but so are most slings. Your baby won't really be any safer in the bjorn than a sling if you don't watch the baby and make sure you're wearing it right.

Have you tried looking at custom fit slings? They're usually around the same price as the higher end slings I've seen (not sold at BRU or target or something, the ones sold in boutique stores) and they provide you with a custom fit for added safety. We're getting one through the lady that does our prenatal classes, it's $80 just like the other sling I wanted from "All Things Being Eco" here in town, but custom fit.

I'm glad they're talking about specific slings though, instead of just saying "slings are dangerous"... They aren't, but I was worried with the big names like Graco and Costco having so much stake in stroller sales, that they could influence the public perception of slings in a negative way through this...

Those baby purses just look like a bad idea! Even the pet purses have ventilation!

Ditto on the Bijorn sucking. Its not ergonomically correct for infants....bad on there hips. i actually shutter when i see babies in them. try a Mei Tai style carrier, wrap or a beco or ergo.
