a hospital grade breast pump? I'm having a hard time pumping with Lansinoh that I got at walmart, and I've heard the hospital ones are so much better. I ask because in order to rent one, I'll have to travel 2 hours to the nearest hospital that rents them out.
Medela pumps in general are better than any others. I have a pump in style at home that works well. I pump once a day from one side and then occasionally an extra time if I am going to be leaving her for a feeding. I work at a hospital and we have an employee pump room that has a symphony in it so I use that instead of bringing my PIS. I think they symphony works a little better...especially because I pump both sides at the same time at work.
I would say yes it is definately worth the drive to get a symphony.
I agree, the hospital grades ones are great, but which Lansinoh pump are you using? If you need the pump for a while, you may want to look into purchasing a Medela Pump In Style, but I would need to know what pump you're currently using before making the suggestion.
Wife to Donny (33), mommy to Cherie (5), and Stepmom to Paige (13) and Garrett (11). Due with number 4 in Jan 2015!!
I used a Medela (not Symphony though) when I was in the hospital and rented an Ameda Hospital Grade for 8 weeks I HATED the Ameda I went out and bought a Medela Pump In Style Advanced and it was 1000x better than the Ameda I had been renting.
I personally got better output with my bought Medela than the rented Ameda
I think it's worth it if you are going to use it for a good long while and possibly with another baby to go ahead and purchase a good quality pump. I had an Ameda Purely Yours and it worked well. I wish I had a large chunk o' change and I would've gotten a Medela Freestyle. I had a frie nd who has one and LOVED it.
