Kind of exciting news....

First, we are currently stationed in NJ & since we are so close to NYC, I figured what the heck & submitted a few pictures of Ashlynn to a well known modeling agency (they have been featured on TLC & Discovery Health Channel). To my suprise (I wasn't even sure if they represented babies so young), they called the day before yesterday wanting to schedule an appointment for us to bring her in. I'm not sure how much of it we will allow for her to do (that is if they sign her) but it's kind of an adventure. They are in Manhattan & we have an appointment next Thursday.

We have done alot of research on what a reputable agency would ask for.
Below is what they emailed me in our appointment confirmation.

Following is a list of what you should bring with you:

- Two cute outfits for Ashlynn to be photographed in.
- A favorite toy or book to help her relax and smile for photos.
- A comb/brush for her hair.
- Hard copies of her photos/headshots.
- An electronic copy of her photos/headshots (i.e. CD, USB drive, etc.) with each photo saved as a jpeg and sized to 700 KB.

For reference I've attached examples of the kinds of photos we'll be looking for. * they sent some headshot images.

So instead of just taking the train up (about a 2hr train ride) we've decided to drive up and stay overnight, do a little sight seeing (I've never been to NYC), eat somewhere nice and then take Ashlynn to FAO Schwarz. I will make sure to take pictures from the trip to post and will keep you posted on what happens. Thanks for letting me share. I am a stay at home mom now that we've had Ashlynn so this is the most excitement I've seen in a while.

I am not sure about what outfits to take but I'm thinking of using the picture below for her headshot. I took it this afternoon after I got back from a day of shopping with my mom.

Thanks girls. We're looking at it like a little adventure for her which I can scrapbook our trip to NYC. I'm only worried because DH deploys again soon & it's a little scary the idea of taking her to NYC by myself. I have a friend who said she would go with me (she has a little boy about 6 weeks older than Ashlynn) so that is somewhat comforting. I am going to see how I feel about everything after this trip. I'm from Dallas which isn't a small city so I shouldn't feel so nervous about NYC but I do. Thanks about her eyes....we both have Hazel eyes but she has her Daddy's eyes and both Grandma's have Blue eyes so that's where she gets it from.

The ped thinks they will stay blue because they usually turn by 6mo but I'll believe it when she hits 1yr and still has blue eyes. They were a deep ocean blue when she was born and have continued to get lighter and lighter.

That's so exciting!!! I hope it's a successful weekend for you.

My sorority sister (she's deaf) was an actress/model when she was 17 for All my Children (soap opera) & modeling and she said she had a blast but she warned me that acting/modeling took a lot of her time cuz she lived in Philly at that time and her and her mother would travel to NYC all the time for all the modeling and acting and it took her time away from her friends she grew up with. It was a short lived acting/modeling career cuz she wanted to focus on college.
My other friend wanted to put her 13 yr old daughter in modeling last year... only to find out she'd have to travel a lot of time and all that.. she's in Maryland.
It's a lot of work but if you put your mind to it, you can do it!
