the day of my first prenatal appointment. I'm so excited, I hope I finally get to see munchkin. My appointment is with the health department while I'm waiting for my Meidcaid to come through. I will update as soon as I get back home. My appointment is at 8:15 this morning.

Wow!!! That was a long 4 hours spent at the health department! I hope I get my medicaid soon, the doctor's office is much faster(I hope) and I don't have to miss classes to go!!! The health department only has materity services on Mondays. First they had computer problems and couldn't update my chart. Then I had to do the 1 hr glucose test( I failed go back the 21st for the 3 hour, they let me do that on a Wednesday.) Plus have a yearly, but the higlight of the day was getting to hear baby's heartbeat!!! I knew before the doctor said there it is. I won't be able to have an ultrasound until between 16-20 weeks, but that's all good. SO just some thoughts and prayers that all goes well. Also my blood pressure was high, but I have white coat high blood pressure, so I'm sure it's down now.

I'm curious about the glucose test as well... Normally that isn't until 27-ish weeks? At least, not from what I hear.
Glad everything went well... I love the sound of baby's heartbeat. Wonderful, isn't it?

Glad to hear everything's great! If diabetes runs in the family, glucose test is recommended early in the pregnancy.

I was wondering about the glucose also....I can definitely see it being done early if you have family history though. At least you got everything taken care of

Yes have PCOS, and yes have family history. Plus I think its just protocol with the health department for maternity services. They do not have an u/s machine in the building, and temp medicaid only pays for 1 ultrasound, and they don't like to do that one until you can tell sex of baby as well. I will just be glad for my medicaid to come through so I can get into my doc's office, and not have to keep cramming my Monday's so full of stuff. As yes the 4 hours of hurry up and wait was worth it, just because I got to hear baby!!! It made my day, I'm still running on the natural high of that!!!!
