Also posted in my journal.
I had my u/s yesterday and later that night my doctor called me, and she has never called me herself. She wanted to let me know that on the u/s they saw that the baby has a choroid plexus cyst (CPC) on her brain. She told me it is common and it nothing to worry about. She said she hates to tell people because they worry when 99% of the time there is nothing to worry about. Of course after getting off the phone with her we were on google. Apprarently 1 in 100 u/s during 2nd trimesters show one of these cysts and they they typically go away before birth. It could be a soft marker for trisomy 18 and downs, but my doctore said since I did the first trimester/nt scan, and those came back okay, it should mean nothing. I did just do the second blood test this week for that screening, so she said she'll look at those results when they come back. She is also going to have me go in for another u/s in a few weeks, and it'll be to the same place I did the nt scan, a specialized u/s place.
Looking back at the u/s, the tech did spend a lot of time on the brain/head, but didn't say anything. My doctor said the heart and everything else looked really good. So I'm hoping when we go for the next u/s in a few weeks they will confirm that this really is just an isolated CPC. Doctor said hopefully at that u/s they could confirm the 80% that we are having a girl (as the tech yesterday couldn't get a good photo of the goods).
After reading info on it, I know I probably don't need to worry, but it was still so scary to hear that my little baby girl has a cyst on her brain I almost wish she would have called me on Monday, so I could have at least enjoy this time a little bit longer.
Has anyone had a baby with a CPS?
