yay my first topic in grads!! how exciting

ok so before i got my bfp, i had plans to meet the girls for drinks tonight.... now what?! i was thinking about being the first one there and getting something that looks like a cocktail but is really just juice or something... my bff knows i'm pg and will be there too so hopefully she can help me... any ideas how to handle this? the worse part is, i'm the one who planned this evening out!

hmmm....sorry, I'm not sure I can help...your idea of getting a non alcoholic, or virgin bevy is good...could you tell them you aren't feeling 100% but didn't want to cancel, but really don't feel like a bevy. I had kind of the same issue, as I got my just before Canadian Thanksgiving, although, it wasn't just for drinks, but it was noted that I didn't have any wine at supper. Maybe they will be too distracted to notice? Sorry I couldn't be more help.

ehh being the DD won't really work because my bff never drinks so she is known to be the DD... not to mention we're within walking distance to the pub we're going... although, we are going to see satc after drinks so maybe i'll just act like i don't want to have to get up and pee every 10 minutes during the movie... yea, i'll fake a drink in the beginning and then tell them that! thanks girls!

This exact thing happened to a friend of mine. Get there first and talk to your waitress. Tell her you are pg and no one knows yet so when you order a cocktail (pick one that is a fruity one with vodka in it cause it is the easiest thing to be "missing" without people noticing) that you need it virgin even if you don't tell her that. No one will be any wiser.

If you don't get there first, make an early trip to the bathroom and find your waitress then.

The other thing to do is have a "helper" so that if someone orders champagne or wine for the table you can take some and your "helper" (who needs to sit beside you) and drink from both glasses (set them side by side and the "helper" accidentally picks up yours and you pick up hers and swap). Be sure to bring yours to your lips now and again but you no one will notice you are not putting anything in your mouth as long as the level keeps going down. That one works best in a large group though where no one is paying too much attention to any specific person.

omg, when I went to SATC last night I never saw so many people having to get up and go to the bathroom in a movie!! At first I was like WTH?!? every time I had to scoot back for someone else, but then my mom whispered "I'm thinking there were a few pre-movie cocktails going on." and I was like oh YEAH, duh!! Hope you pulled it off okay and got away with no suspicion!

That was great advice michelle, and it worked!! until i ended up spilling the beans because i noticed one of my friends was drinking water!!!! so i asked why and she told us that she's pregnant! about a week ahead of me, so naturally i had to tell them!!! they all thought i was sooo sneaky with my drink!
