I hadn't even heard about it until my friend bought it for someone at her work.... I can't find it on the babies r us website, but it's something that goes until the baby and comes with a monitor and will alert you if the baby were to stop breathing I guess. Anyone ever heard of it?

It might be the Angelcare monitor. It's a sensor pad that goes on the mattress and if there is no movement for x number of seconds an alarm goes off.
The only other thing I know is something from the hospital and you only get that if your baby has an issue.
We don't have one.

I have an Angel Care monitor, the sensor pad goes under the mattress and it alerts if there is no movement/breathing for 20 seconds... we find it comforting since Michael had a couple of Apneas (where he stopped breathing) in the NICU... he "grew out of them" so he didnt need to come home on a monitor or anything but we're paranoid, plus it helps with the general risk of SIDS...
The only problem is he's a crazy sleeper and moves off the sensor sometimes... but, i'd rather have false alarms then not know if he's not breathing

We have the angelcare monitor as well. I have used it once to test it while Josie was napping, but since she sleeps in our room, I haven't tried to put it under the bassinet mattress. I'm sure it'll stop me from waking her up checking on her when we move her to the crib though! It seems to work very well- very sensitive.

I also have the angel care monitor, and love it. Since my daughter seems to have decided to be a side sleeper, that with the sleep positioner helps me sleep at night.

We didn't have it, but if I'd had boys I'm sure I would have gotten them since white males born early are more at risk than any other babies. Someone in my PR has one and just bought one for a relative. The relative had it for less than a week before it went off and her baby had stopped breathing. Thanks for the monitor the baby is okay.

I've registered for one and will buy it for myself if no one else does. Even with false alarms, I'd rather be safe than sorry!!

My sister was supposed to get us hers, but alas - she lost half of the stupid thing. Now we're just going to buy a regular baby monitor, if that. The risk of SIDS is so low, I think I would just be MORE paranoid - I would rather have a few scary nights with her at first, and get used to her sleeping without the monitor, than have the monitor and then freak out when she sleeps in her playpen or something. I would have used it if we had gotten it for free, or even if we had been able to buy one from the US probably since they are only $80-$90 there - but up here, they're $150 and just don't seem to be worth it for the quality (there have apparently been some sensitivity issues, they work great one minute and then the next, they won't pick up any movement even when baby is rolling around...)
If we have any reason to think baby is at risk, we'll pick one up - otherwise, we'll just be using a regular old monitor.

I hadn't really though about it. I'm guessing that we probably won't though.

This was something that I had decided on when my ex and I were TTC, I personally will get one, even with the false alarms (even with your home security system you get false alarms ) but to each their own. I did find this site, they have different ones and I think Babies R Us does or at least use to, carry the cheaper one.
Angelcare Baby Monitor | Babyphone and Baby Movement Sensor
And if you are concerned about SIDS also remember Wonder Bumpers and the Amby Bed, they are both suppose to help reduce the risk of SIDS (the Amby Bed will no longer be made, as from their website but I have read testimonials from people who swear by them though). My friend (who is not pregnant nor TTC just found Wonder Bumpers and is in LOVE with them ha ha!)

We might get one after Caleb is born once we move him from the bassinet to the crib.

My sister has one and I am sure we will get one too. In addition to the sensor for when they are small the actual monitor is great. There are tons of features (different modes, etc) that I am sure other monitors have too. But for me the Angelcare is the only one I have seen used... so I will be getting it mostly because I am comfortable with it and can ask her questions about it.

we registered for it, but on my registry online it says "available in store only". If we don't get one as a gift, we will purchase it. They have one with a handheld sound monitor, but we got the basic one because we will have a picture monitor and the sound will go through that monitor.
We too agree, even with false alarms, we would rather be safe than sorry!
