So, to all of you mommas who are either further along than I am (which isn't many anymore!) or those whose babies are already here... Did you ever hit a point where you started procrastinating on the baby stuff?

Like, I mean REALLY procrastinating - finding excuses not to do EVERYTHING.

I'm more than 34 weeks pregnant... 39 days until my due date, as of today. And yet I just finally registered at the hospital (our backup hospital, we're still planning a home birth) on Thursday because my midwife was urging me, telling me that I HAD to get it done. It has to be done by 36 weeks, no later! And I waited until I was almost 34!

I still haven't even started shopping for the supplies for the home birth, haven't even begun packing my hospital bag, none of baby's clothes or diapers are washed, and my birth plan is still a rough hand-written draft, like it was months ago.

What is wrong with me? The nursery was done by like, 25 weeks - and I'm still sitting here almost 10 weeks later, having accomplished nothing?

It is almost like doing those things is admitting that there is only a short time left until she arrives, so I'm in denial and pretending I have lots of time... LOL

Did you ever run into a point like this? I know the nesting urge will kick in full-force when I get closer to going into labour, and that will help get things done - but there are things that should be done before that, like the hospital bag and the birth plan, and OMG the thank you notes from my baby shower STILL aren't done... Ugh.

How did you deal? Did you find a way to motivate yourself, or did you just wait until the nesting urge kicked in to get things done? I feel like I'm never going to be prepared for this baby at this rate, her crib is still full of the gifts from the baby shower! LOL

OMG, I just looked in the grads list and Paula (pthree) is the ONLY one left ahead of me in the list.

And yet I still don't feel like doing anything! What is wrong with me? LOL

I finished packing my hospital bag AFTER my water broke. In fact, I did a load of laundry because there were clothes that I needed for on the way home from the hospital.

Don't worry, nesting will set in super again, and you will get at it I'm sure.

Dh made me pack mine but I ended up repacking right before we left for the hospital. I really just procrastinated at work on some things....because I thought I'd have an extra week to get them done.

I am not farther along than you but I am already procrastinating. We have bought nothing, have nothing ready in the nursery, have no baby clothes (except 2 onesies I bought to tell DH about pregnancy number 1) and no baby supplies. The house looks just like it did 25 weeks ago... no sign of a baby coming here. I really hope I get something done before I end up procrastinating even more!

Funny, it makes me feel so much better to know that I'm not the only one... LOL

I have started getting *some* things done after yesterday - I did get some of the home birth supplies together (the ones we have in the house), I've got the thank you cards out in front of me to get done today hopefully, and I have a list of things to pack for my hospital bag... My sister was great LOL - I told her what trouble I was having getting motivated, and she told me just to pack a bare-bones essentials bag and then leave a list at home of everything else I want and where it is - so if I get transferred to the hospital, she will come over and pack it all up and bring it for me. What an awesome girl! LOL

Uh, yeah, I did not have a stinkin CARSEAT when my water broke!! I did not have my hospital bag packed, I did not have Tori's crib cleared out, no thank you notes done (of course my baby shower was only a week before I had Tori). Needless to say, and I hope this helps motivate you LOL, my water broke and I was having a baby 3 weeks early!! But, to answer your question, I was terrible at preparing and I never got to the nesting stage either. GOOD LUCK, I am sure you will get in gear soon!!

ETA: It is quite comical watching hubby run around like a crazy person trying to piece stuff together so that we can have what we need at the hospital HAHA!!

I never had the nesting instinct either. So, I just kept procrastinating. I thought I had all this time and then ended up on bedrest. So DH and my mom had to get the rest of the stuff ready.

I had everything together except the hospital bag and car seat. I had the hospital bag together maybe a couple days before and DH had to go get the car seat and install it while I was in the hospital. So yeah, a little bit of procrastination!

Hmmm... It seems to me like the gals who procrastinated never got the nesting urge, or ended up in labour early! Here I am thinking that I have weeks of time, maybe I'd better get on this stuff ASAP - otherwise Izzy really will come earlier than expected, and I'll be SCREWED. LOL

I have been nesting like a mad woman since about 33-34 weeks! I literally clean my house, like dust, sweep, scrub toilets, everything everyday, Dh and I put everything together right after my shower, I washed all the clothes and blankets, etc. as soon as I got them, the hospital bags have been packed and the carseat in the car since 34 weeks!
I'm driving dh crazy b/c some things I can't do, but yet feel the "need" for them to be done and cry and beg him to do them, lol!

Oh cr@p, the carseat! Hmm, I guess we'd better take that out of the closet and figure out how to install it, hey?

*sigh* I'm just never going to be ready enough for this baby, never never never. So much to do, so little time, and absolutely NO energy. LOL

As I type this, I'm laying in bed with my feet up on pillows, avoiding work, not folding my laundry, and ignoring the vacuuming that has to be done. Ahh well, they always tell you to rest while you still can! LOL

I was the opposite and had the hospital packed and ready at 20 weeks preg. I took all the classes, had the clothes washed dried, folded, re-folded, and and every thing in place. BUT, no matter how ready you *think you are, nothing quite prepares you for that 1st night home, and first few months. You will get stuff together, and it will all work out great! I can't believe you're 5 weeks away from meeting your LO!!!

I forced myself to do one thing each day, which usually lead to another.... take one thing at a time... maybe make a list of what you need done and prioritize it from there!! I was one of those who did things really early and had nesting like crazy.

That's whats bothering me Jodi & Andrea - I was SO like that! The nursery was done by 20 weeks!

But I seem to have completely stalled in my progress and am getting nothing more done! LOL

I was nesting like crazy up until a week ago

I was like you and the nursey was done by 24 weeks but man, I struggled at the end! I never had the nesting phase. i kept waiting and waiting and waiting for it to happen, but nope my stepmom came over and clean the crap out of my house while I was in the hospital

my suggestion is to not worry about anything else, except having your home birth stuff done. that is the most crucial!! the other stuff can wait, if needed. you never know, you could have the nesting phase kick in next week!

oh and btw, I delivered at 38 weeks!

Oh my gosh, I am one of the next to go? How exciting!

But yes, I am SUCH a procrastinator. We don't even have that many baby clothes because we aren't finding out the gender and I haven't had my shower yet. I so far have washed maybe 8 onesies and two pairs of mittens, haha. I still have a few outfits left to wash. I still need to wash my crib bedding! We started our nursery at 20 weeks I think, and just finished that the other day.

I have not packed my hospital bag. I don't own a single nursing bra. Or nursing pad. However, I did finally buy some gigantic pads at the store yesterday.

I really need to deep clean the house. I finally lined my kitchen shelves last week (we never did that when we bought the house - two years ago!!), except I ran out of liner so I didn't even finish that!

Gosh, what else do I have to do? Oh yeah - the car seat hasn't been installed yet. Once we do that we still need to go get it inspected to make sure we did it right. I am 36+1 weeks... I really hope this baby decides to stay put for a couple more weeks

The worst part is I'm a teacher and haven't worked since June 1! So, I have NO EXCUSE! Do not feel bad Cheryl!
