I had my checkup today at 37 weeks 5 days and all went well, still between 2 and 3 cm dialated and my cervix is softening up nicely! Fisher sounded great on the doppler and my weight, bp, and urine all checked out fine! It was a pretty uneventful appointment until I got home! We live about an hour away from the dr's office and I had to run a couple errands on the way home, so I didn't get home til about 10:30 ish! I thought everything was normal until I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a lot of blood! Like bleeding like a period, so I put a pad on and decided to watch it! Went back to the bathroom about 20 mins later and the pad was full and (TMI) I was passing bloody clumps of mucous. So, I called my dr and he told me to come back in and let them check it out because although it is normal to have some bleeding after a cervical check it shouldn't be that heavy! So, I go back over to the drs office and they do a vaginal exam and swab my cervix to see whats going on (TMI again) the swab is covered in blood and mucous, apparently this is my bloody show! By this time I am also beginning to have contractions and so they decide to put me on the monitors! Baby looked great and I was indeed getting some pretty intense contractions lasting about 1 minute each and coming every 5-7 minutes; however, my cervix wasn't changing...so, they sent me home and here I am still contracting now 8 hours later! They are consistent, but not consistently really intense, so i'm going to wait it out a while longer and see what happens. The dr. said that this is most likely early labor, so we'll see if my contractions pick up or my water breaks...if either of the two happen, I will be going back in...otherwise I'm going to stay home! I am praying this is it, as I am really uncomfortable and just ready to meet my little man!
If any of you have any experience with time between bloody show and actual labor, I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks ladies! I'm still here, contracting but not really strong contractions! Also, (TMI) I just passed another huge clump of bloody mucous! I really pray this means real labor will be starting soon! I guess we shall see!

I started having my bloody show and some of my mucous plug was coming out, but my water broke on its own (at about 10:30 am) not long after a second visit to the bathroom. My hospital was about 2 hours away, so, I had called the dr., she had me come in, I was 4-5 cm dilated by then. The dr. started me on pit (at about 3 pm) since I was already almost 5 cm and I had my daughter at 11:06 pm. Oh, and I was 37 weeks, 2 days.
Good luck, I *think* that you will have your son pretty soon!!

I have no experience with that, but I wanted to say two things... One, YAY for being so close! That is so exciting!
And two, I'm so totally jealous LOL - I still have another 2.5 weeks before I'm in the "safe" zone, full term! Pass along some of those 37-week-labour vibes this way! I'd love for Izzy to be born at the end of July or early August
ELVs hun, I can't wait for your next update - hopefully it consists of "I'm on my way to the hospital!"
