If you've read my ttc journal, you know that my mom has mentioned that she's not supportive of us having a baby right now. (I haven't told her we were ttc, but she's made comments in the past about how we need to wait until we're 30). DH is convinced she'll be thrilled once we tell her, and part of me thinks she will be too, but I'm just so afraid to tell her! I feel like I'm going to get in trouble or something, like I'm 13 years old again and I got an F on a test.

She always makes this big deal about how are and my dad waited until they were 30 to have me and that they had no debt blah blah blah. Which is well and good and all, but the were separated less than 3 years later, so being financially secure really isn't everything...

Part of me is also nervous that she'll tell the whole world (she can't keep her mouth shut). I'm really not ready for that. We were going to wait to tell her, but we won't see her again until the holiday's, and I hate to give the news over the phone.

Ugh. Any advice?

If it were me i'd tell her but make sure to ask her to keep it a secret. If you don't think she'll be able to do that then maybe waiting a little while would be best. We waited until 12 weeks because we didn't want everyone to know and i wasn't sure if my family could keep it a secret since i knew they would all be super excited. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I personally waited until i was 13 weeks to tell everyone including my mom... we sent "grandma" packages in the mail so there are still fun ways to tell them even if its not in person.... I would wait if i were you

I would wait to tell her (and everyone). My MIL was really good at not telling but the day that we hit 12 weeks, she told the entire family! Plus, if you wait a couple more months, you can really get prepared!

I agree with the other girls. I told my mom right away (but she had given me my hcg shot so she wanted to know asap) but because mil can be a big mouth we did not tell his family until 10 weeks. I haven't told anyone in my family yet either because I have an aunt who will tell everybody and we're waiting until august. good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Good luck with whatever you decide...and I hope that it goes weLL!

For me, my parents were dying for us to get pregnant, so I told them at 4 weeks...but, if I had any idea that they might not be as supportive, I wouldnt say anything until the safer zone of beyond 12 weeks...

So, I totally chickened out! I just wasn't ready to tell anyone, at least not until after we saw the heartbeat... I'll have to come up w/ a way to tell them over the phone I guess!

do it whenever you're ready. We told the first time right away and untelling was so sucky!! So we waited until 10 weeks this time and we had seen him and things were going well...that seemed like a good time to tell!
