Okay, so you all know I'm next to go (congrats again to Paula & Tiffany!) but all this prodromal labor is seriously driving me crazy! LOL

More contrax last night, DH made me eat spicy food - let me tell you, I ended up FEELING like I was giving birth, but there was no baby... No... Just the after-effects of spicy food! NOT doing that again LOL

But I seriously think that all of this prodromal labor is because my body is trying to *turn* the baby. She is head down, of course, but completely sideways! Her back is on my right, her feet are on my left, and her head will *not* engage in my pelvis at all. Every time she tries, she floats right back out again (which is making my pubic bone hurt BAD with her banging up against it constantly!)

I've tried kneeling on all fours, pelvic rocks, walking, laying on my left side, cold compress on her back and warm where her back *should* be, accupressure points (there is one on your achilles tendon that is supposed to help baby turn *without* inducing labor), even the chest-knees position (which did make her turn for all of 5 minutes, and then she turned back and it hasn't worked since...)

I even scrubbed my floors on my hands and knees - nothing. She just will *not* turn and get into the right position, which is what I think is keeping all of these contractions from turning into real labor - there is no pressure from her head on my cervix, so I'm not dilating at all (still only a fingertip!)

Anybody had this before? I mean, I'm glad she isn't posterior, or breech, or transverse - that would be way worse. But she is semi-posterior (her back is slightly more towards my back than my front according to the midwife, which means that when her head does try to drop it is going in facing forward aka sunny-side up) and if I'm hoping to have a natural, home birth, back labor is just NOT in the cards LOL

How can I get her to turn? Any tips, tricks, techniques, or even just prayers to get her to turn would be appreciated! I'm going nuts, I feel like this is the last thing that needs to happen before she can come - and that once she turns, I'll be in labor within 24 hours (that is just a feeling, of course, but in meditating and talking to baby that is the feeling I get...)

Thanks girls!

I have heard of some babies who don't engage or get into position until labor. So that could be the case. I'm sure she'll get into position when she's ready You're not 40weeks yet, so try not to worry about it too much.

Something I would recommend is seeing a chiropractor as they can help get baby in position and acupuncture or if you're scared of acupuncture there's reflexology which is the pressure points like acupuncture but without the needles.

I know she's not breech, but maybe trying the breech tilt will help some?

DS was pretty much in that position (though he was engaged) and I had a home birth with back labor, it's really not that bad. (Why isn't in in the cards for you?? If you have back labor are you saying you won't have a home birth?) Yes contractions and back labor isn't fun, but I did it! I was in labor for 26 hours....and because of his position, his head was tiled and not in the chin down position, I pushed for 3.5 hours. No tears or anything, all natural. His head was 14 inches too! It's possible so don't give up Your body knows what to do!

Cheryl, Nikolas was posterior when I went into labour. I didn't know it - I didnt get any back labour until he was really low and I was like 8 cm. I sat up and somehow he turned and actually came out semi-sideways. From what I remember is that when they descend they kinda do it like a corkscrew, so they don't come down straight.
Nikolas was facing the right way for weeks until right at the end, he turned.

Also, my midwife gave me some warm saline pockets in my back to help with the back labour... be sure to inquire about these!

Good luck girlie!! Come on Izzy!!
