*not related to anyone where, this is about a friend IRL*

I swear some people need to take parenting classes before they should be allowed to give birth. My 16 year old niece had to take classes (thank god), so why do they assume adults know what they're doing? First i saw a picture of a friends son who was in his carseat alllllllllllll wrong. It was horrible, his straps were so loose he could get his arm out, the chest clip wasn't at his arm pit level, the straps were above his shoulders not at them etc.. i swear it was pointless for him to even be in the seat! I tried to be passive aggressive and tag the mom in a note about car seat safety on FB... i thought if she was tagged with other people (i know i tagged a bunch of you guys) she wouldnt know i was directing it at her and it wouldnt offend her, well that didnt work. Anyway, so now ever since they've been posting a ton of pictures where they have the carseat still wrong, and now baby is going to bed with loose blankets. Now, i hope that its just for nap time and someone is there with him or checks on him.. i let Michael have loose blankets during the day because i can see him (plus we have the Angel Care monitor anyway) but i'm pretty sure its not. I know different parents do different things and you have to do what works for your baby so i try not to judge but the baby is swaddled underneath the loose blanket... so whats the point?

I dunno, i just don't get it. I wish i could be a "baby police" person for a living. I know i'm not an expert but apparently i know more things then a lot of people i know!

I hope this doesnt come off where i sound like a know-it-all... i dont mean too i just want people to keep their babies safe

I am not a mom yet, but I know exactly what you mean and how you feel. I've been raised around babies my entire life and have taken care of them, even as newborns, for days and nights on end, by myself so I definitely know what you should and shouldn't be doing with them. Like you I'm not an expert, but geez, it doesn't take much to figure it out. So when these people we knew had their first baby (and they are definitely NOT baby people) it used to make me sick to my stomach to see some of the things they did. Like bouncing the half sleeping new born in the air because the dad wanted her to wake up. Or when he would literally give her a shove to make her roll across the floor because he honestly thought he was teaching her how to roll over. (Poor kid would have carpet burn on her nose and forehead every time, but he just kept doing it.) They didn't hold her right when they would feed her and the mom would practically let the child's knees touch her face when she'd set her on her leg to burb her as a newborn. (The baby's butt would slide off the side of the mom's leg so she was so hunched over that literally, her knees almost touched her face...could YOU burp in that position??) As a toddler they would feed the child and didn't always give her anything to drink (not even when she was finished...I guess they didn't think about it.) And that was just some of the things they did.

They were complete idiots and the more anyone would try to tell them what they should do and how they should do it, the more idiotic they became. (They are the type that believe they know everything, do nothing wrong and that everyone else is beneath them in every way possible.) So sadly, it might be the same thing with the people you talk about, that the more you indicate they are doing something wrong, the more they'll continue to shove it in your face just to be jerks about it.

I really do hope though that SOMEONE can get through to them about what they are doing wrong before that child gets hurt. Fortunately the child I'm speaking of has so far survived her parents, hopefully this one will too.

OH my goodness..I totally feel ya!!!! I have to stop myself from ripping the mom's head off I see at the store when their baby is in the seat ALL wrong!!! I mean...really?!?! Oh and I didn't know that carseats had expirations before I had a baby...but now that I do I've done my research so of course, I know this stuff now...however my SIL had her child in a seat that was expired for like 3 years and when I told her she was like "Oh I had no idea?!?!" Really...why don't people check this stuff?!?!?!

I guess i kind of see it like... when you are doing something as important as raising a baby you should study beforehand! Like studying for a test!

Yeah its very sad to see some people as parents. We have friends who literally fed their 8 month old a burrito from Taco Bell! Poor thing didn't even have teeth and was gumming it. Their 3 kids have grown up on fast food and soda in baby bottles (which makes me IRATE!) And their 3 year old's teeth are all rotted out. Their excuse to not fix it...they'll fall out anyways! Ugh! I see lots of bad stuff and unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it. What really kills me is that Farrah girl off Teen Mom! I swear I wanted to jump through the tv screen and slap her so many times! Especially when she left her baby outside unattended! Ugh!

I saw a mom chew up some french fries and spit them out and put them in the baby's mouth because she was too young to chew them. Washed down with coke, of course.

I swear, I think people should have to have a license or something before they can have a baby.

O. M. G. Setting that kid up for a lifetime of obesity, diabetes and heart disease - NICE!

OMG this makes me sick to my stomach....the Taco Bell and soda in a bottle?!?!!? I mean the blankity blank blank is wrong with people?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And no wonder why we are the fattest people in the world. People are all about convience and not about overall health and it absolutely drives me crazy!

And yes yes yes...Farrah from Teen MOM drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That whole show does actually, but, yet, I continue to watch it. Like a bad wreck or something?!?!

I once saw a woman in the food court pour her Pepsi into her baby's bottle! I mean really! Give your head a shake! Why is it so easy for some of these people to become parents and so hard for others?

Wow thats horrible! I think my brother gave my niece soda in a bottle once and my mom about killed him... lol. Didn't happen with their two younger children

I think what bothers me the most about this couple in particular is a when the baby was first born, there was a post by her sister on the moms facebook page that said "for all you people that think you know better then my sister just keep your advice to yourself, her husband works in a nicu!, i think they know what they're doing"...

So yeah, her husband is a respiratory therapist and works at a childrens hospital so apparently they think they are baby experts... when clearly, as i've seen they are not. And apparently they are not open for advice! I mean, these are smart people and they do have experience with children which is why i'm most confused by their behavior! Sigh
