Ugh my DH told me to stop taking tests and I should have listened to him. I need some reassurance here as I am totally flipping out. I took a test today and the line was maybe a little darker that it was 3 days ago, but it looks the same to me. In 3 days shouldn't there be an obvious difference?

Now, the test I took 3 days ago was a "6 days sooner" FRER, and the test this morning was a "5 days sooner" FRER. Are they really that different? Or should I be going in for another beta draw? OR should I just stop freaking out because I'm feeling great and have no spotting? I know the sensitivity can vary from box to box on these tests, I'm just really freaking out and need to hear some calming words!

CALM DOWN GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I totally get it, but my thoughts are that if the test is still showing positive then that's all that matters!!!!!! Are you going in for a blood test any time soon? I took like literally 10 tests and had 2 blood tests becasue I constantly needed the reassurance! Hang in there girl!!!

Okay, I can't say anything to you about not taking anymore tests because I did the same exact thing. I compared them all in a line up. I kept taking them until I had no more to take and then I just had to stop because I wasn't going to BUY anymore. So, take all the ones you already have and then you've got to stop. The tests are not perfect, especially when you are comparing different brand of tests. It's really hard to wait for your first appointment, but once you hear and see the heartbeat that first time, everything will change for you. Just hang in there for another week or so...when exactly is your first appointment?

Thanks you guys, I'm just over-emotional and 3 days ago my line was as dark as the control, so today I expected it to be darker than the control and it wasn't. I had a beta 6 days ago (the day I got my BFP) and it was a 31. So today my beta should still be in the 120-240 range. I decided not to get a second beta because I didn't want to stress about it, but I bought more tests and now look where I am! I don't have my first appointment til August 26th.

Well, if the urge overcomes you to take another test, at least buy the same exact tests so you can compare scientifically, lol. Sorry you have to wait so long, I wish I could speed it up!!! Hang in there!

That's why I never took FRERs and compared lines. Granted, i took a $tree test two different days and the second day it was a tad darker, but not much. Just relax (easier said than done, I know). Just breathe and throw away your tests and quit over analyzing. Congrats on your BFP!!

Ugh I know I should never have done this! I did a lot of googling and found some people saying the new FRERs take longer for the test line to be darker than the control... women who were taking them everyday had a long stretch of the line being as dark as the control, and it didn't get darker til their hcg was over 500. So I feel a bit better, and I am either going to throw away my last FRER, or wait 4-5 days before taking it. And then I'm done I swear!

Here are my tests from early in this pregnancy.

The bottom one was the day before my beta draw that was 65!

The lines were LIGHT for a long time and I never really felt like they got dark enough - but I am still pregnant. Test sensitivity has a lot to do with it but so does your urine concentration. It is harder to know what the concentration of your urine is doing because it can be affected for much longer - ie if you drank a lot of water one night the concentration may still be low through the entire next day.

It is hard to stop taking tests but you will get to a point where you do. Can't wait to see what your beta numbers come back at today!!

EVERY test (even 2 out of the same box) will have a different amt. of dye in them. I was totally freaked out early on too, and would CONSTANTLY compare the color of the lines, and why this one was darker yesterday than today. Try and relax, I'm sure everything is fine

Here are my ICs that I took. I took one everyday until I ran out. They were somewhat reassuring but what I really found that helped me was taking the digi tests with the conception indicator. As long as the indicator moved each week I was calmer.

Good luck. It's totally normal to be worried.

I did save one digi for like a week after I got my inital BFP...just to make sure.

Thank you so much ladies. And Michelle and Kim thanks for digging out your pictures!

I have managed to calm down from my crazy spell. After my first beta I decided not to get another one and I'm sticking to it. I need to just relax, so that's what I'm gonna do. DH says when he gets home he's breaking my last FRER in half so I can't use it and freak myself out again!

At a certain point, the line doesnt get much darker, and especially since you were using them from different packs...as long as the line isnt getting noticeably lighter, you are fine -

Completely agree. I know how you feel though because when I found out I was pregnant this time I took a LOT of tests (but I also had a lot bought previously because I used the trigger shot and wanted to test it out of my system). I know with the dollar store ones it took me forever to get really dark and even then it was never darker then the control line.

I took a ton of tests too and freaked out when the line wasn't getting darker. That and temping made me absolutely crazy! I just had to make myself stop and have faith that I was carrying a sticky bean. I know it's hard but try to relax.

I did the same thing!! I tested at 8 weeks to be completely honest...I thought I had been done for weeks but then I got an urge!!
And even then it didn't seem dark enough for me, but I knew all was well anyhow at that point thank goodness!

Try to stay calm as hard as it is. I am still a nervous wreck sometimes at 13 weeks but I think that's just part of being pregnant...the lack of control in there drives us crazy!!
