The GI doctor just called with Connor's results today....his liver enzymes are not better  I am devastated  . So he's calling it chronic hepatitis. But, we have no idea what is causing it. He doesn't have Hep A, B, or C. It could be a genetic defect or some kind of other virus or parasite. Really I'm just afraid to look up what else it could be.
I'm a nurse in the ICU and even though I'm sure it has nothing to do with that, I can't help but feel guilty that it's something I brought home from work, or meds I took while pregnant, or something I've caused in some way or another. I've been super careful so in my head I know I didn't cause it, but I just can't help feeling guilty anyway.
So, we have to go for more blood work this week and based on those results will continue testing from there.
I just thought for sure they were going to be normal now. He's up to 18.5 lbs and looks completely healthy now. It so scary when you know your baby is sick but have no idea why.
Please say some prayers for Connor.
ETA: Please don't say anything on facebook yet. We've only told family and close friends for now until we know more. Mostly because I don't want a million and one questions from everyone when I have no answers. So I'm really glad you guys are all here for support too.

Oh Karen I am so sorry I hope that they can figure out what is causing it and give you some piece of mind. Don't blame yourself, it is not your fault and you are a great mom who is trying so hard to make her baby better!!

I am sorry the news was not better! But I think it is still a good sign that he is gaining weight and looking more healthy. Hopefully you will get some answers soon.

I'm sorry the results didn't improve. I totally agree that it's SUCH a good sign that he's gained weight, and looks healthy! I know it's hard but, DON'T blame yourself. You are a wonderful mommy, and did nothing wrong. Lots of positive thoughts for Connor! PLEASE KUP...
