I'm planning my SIL's sports themed baby shower. She seems to be concentrating on only baseball but i thought since football season is here it would be fun to incorporate other sports. This is the sample invite:

The cake is white, chocolate brown and sky blue (similar to this but w/just the baseball and bat)
I am thinking of having a jr. football for guests to autograph, I am going to do mini blue gatorades with little bows around them for favors, I'm thinking of doing a football shaped cheese ball with crackers, fruit and veggie trays and serving just water,tea, and mini soft drinks for drinks. Her sister is taking care of the cake and invites and my other SIL and I are doing food, favors and decorations. I am also planning on making her a diaper cake with some stuff i have and I also told her i could probably make a cute wreath like Tyler's with very little effort...I have a TON of extra stuff from Tyler's shower that it would be no effort at all!!
So that's what i have planned but i feel like i need more ideas...specifically sports things. She doesn't want much decoration so i'm looking at making one of these that says Hudson for her mantle (similar to what my girls did for tyler but with scrapbook paper). I LOOOOOVED my baby shower so i'm definitely stealing ideas from there...
So i'm goign to start looking for ribbons, papers, and little sports goodies.
Who has ideas?!!

One idea would be to bake some cupcakes, ice them white and use red writing icing to make stitching so it would look like a baseball cupcake
Also a fun game to play which is unrelated to sports is to get a bunch of candy bars, melt one or two down of each brand you get and mush them into a few baby diapers. The idea is that the guests have to guess what kind of candy is in each diaper. Basically the candy looks like poop haha but it's a fun game and have the winner get a prize
That's all I have

That cake is great!
Let's see, sports ideas... foam fingers, beer hats, noise makers, megaphones, cheerleader pom poms... That's all I've got.

Gosh, I don't know. We didn't have favors at mine. And they had cookies rather than a cake which I was disappointed cause I really wanted a cake. I had been telling my hostesses that I'd go get it and they kept telling me no, they'd do it and a few days before my SIL told me there was no cake. Talk about disappointing. OK, sorry for that shpeel.
You could always do chicken salad sandwiches and use cookie cutters to cut the bread into sport shapes. Oh, and I always loved the gingerale sherbet drink...yum yum.
I think about....take me out to the ballgame. You could have a game like how many peanuts are in a jar. Give out cracker jacks as favors.
That's really all I got. The only decor at mine was the table and the fireplace mantle. I don't think you need to go all out.

Oh, ding...idea! For a game, you could call out letters of the baby's name and then everyone has to think of an athlete starting with that letter.
For example:
T = Ty Warren
Y = Yao Ming
L = Lance Berkman
E = Ed O'Neill (yes, he actually was a football player before actor)
R = Rafael Nadal
The person that has the least unduplicated names at the party wins.
Next....
althete scategories. Give everyone a card with a name and facts of an althlete and they have to give clues until someone guesses the name...for example:
Answer: Venus Williams
Clues: Female, tennis player, has a sister that is a professional tennis player, ranked number one in the world for first time on 2/25/2002, etc.
Okay, that is really all I got.

LeeAnn we had peanuts, cracker jacks, nachos, and all kinds of fun game food at my shower and i'm not sure my sis is up for that but it was fun and an awesome idea! The peanuts in the jar idea is cool!!
Also, love the sandwich idea, i'd just have to find the cookie cutters

LOVE the idea and the cake!!! What about doing some sort of sports trivia baby game or something? You could maybe even find baby pics of famous athletes and do a guessing game.
