After my visit to L&D on Friday night, the OB ordered an ultrasound today. The results were mixed (but overall not bad).
My placenta is indeed very low. It's lying about 0.5 cm from my cervix. Also the baby is measuring about a week or so behind. The hospital OB is hopeful that as he grows (along with the uterus) that my placenta will move away from my cervix. The OB ordered another u/s in 2 weeks and again in 4 weeks so he can keep an eye on things.
If the placenta doesn't move then I will most likely be labeled as "high risk" and may end up on bed rest and possibly need a c-section.
So I am to take things easy for now. Nothing strenuous (ie. no sex) and no lifting. I'm also going to adjust my diet some to add more carbs so that hopefully the baby starts to grow faster.
The baby is already head down and is still a boy (yes, I asked).

So sorry you have to go through this. Hope that little boy starts to really grow and that your placenta moves up. Take it easy and get plenty of rest! Thinking of you and praying that the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing.

Awww kim, i will say i had a parent at work who is due a week or so after me. She had a low lying placenta and so far she's been fine. She had to take it easy for a while this summer but she's done great and it seems to have resolved itself. Glad they're keeping an eye on you...good luck with the weight gain and have lots of cake for me!!

I am glad your dr. is keeping a close eye on things. I am keeping your little boy in my T & P...wish I could come and help your DH with all that needs to get done before his arrival.

We might be in Calgary next weekend so if we are I will come for lunch WITH DESSERT so we can fatten up Progeny! None for Baby L though - this kid is HUGE already.
I am glad that the Dr is paying close attention to both your cervix and Progeny!

Checked in here just to see how it went, Kim... I've been thinking about you! Sorry the news is mixed and that you have to deal with this; but I'm so glad baby is doing well besides the growth issue. I guess the bright side is you can lay on the couch and watch movies all day with bags of potato chips and French bread? Doctor's orders?
OK, I know that's not REALLY a bright side in reality... and I will be hoping hard for you that things look better in 2 weeks! Keep us posted as much as you can!

I had a low-lying placenta for the duration of my pregnancy and was put on pelvic rest. It moved by the time she was born. You still have plenty of time for it to get out of the way.
