Things went well - really quick in fact. My doctor had a student with him and he told her I was having a HUGE baby. We have known for a while that this baby was a big one but now both fundal measurement AND ultrasound are showing us at 38 weeks. The student was asking lots of questions about how "big" is normal and Dr. Tankel said usually 2 weeks is no worry - any more than that and they pay attention. On top of that they/we had a discussion about how big baby would have to be measuring before they don't let me deliver vaginally and schedule an ultrasound.

At my next appointment (in 2 weeks) we will have an ultrasound first and will meet with the doctor after to discuss things. I am not too concerned yet but am definitely interested to see what happens next appointment.

I dunno Kate. I think we will find that out at our 36 week appointment. It will depend on how big Baby L is in 2 weeks. I have a feeling i will be scheduled for at very least induction on my due date and possibly a C-section since they started talking about it already. No word to me on whether a C-section would be neccessary but just discussing at what point do they do one (size wise).

I doubt I will get induced or have a c-section before my due date since so far size is the only thing working against us. BP is fine, weight gains is fine, no bleeding or contractions, generally no complications... just a big healthy baby.

Glad everything is going great. I was measuring way ahead for a while and then it even out by the end so maybe your big baby is just having a growth spurt right now Either way glad you have a healthy baby!

I don't want to scare you - no really I don't - if Baby L is big, don't wait too long. My SIL kept telling her Drs that my niece felt really big and she wanted to be induced, they wouldn't and made her wait until a couple of days past her due date. My niece was a whopping 11lbs 13 oz! I'm glad that your Dr is more on top of monitoring the baby's growth.

I'm glad your appt went well. Hopefully you won't need a C-section.

I have so many people telling me not to worry because ultrasounds are wrong and my measurements are wrong but I have a feeling this baby is big. I am glad my doctor is not waiting until 38 weeks (like the other doctor suggested) to do the ultrasound and take another look.

I would love to say this is just a growth spurt but we have been measuring ahead since about 20 weeks - progressively getting farther away from "normal" gestation size with each passing month. We have had 7 ultrasounds (5 of them since 19 weeks) so I feel like if it was going to even out it would have already. I will be sure to ask what the plan is at my next appointment but at least no one will be caught off guard by our large baby.

First of all, I can't believe that you are 34 weeks, I am so excited for that alone!!! About the big baby, I'm glad you are not too concerned! Sounds like the drs are gonna keep a close eye for you, so not to worry! I can't remember if you or DH were "big" babies? That also makes a pretty big difference too! I was 8.15 and DH was 9.4. YIKES!!!
