Hi ladies
I am so scared.. a week ago I had a beta draw.. it hurt pretty bad at the time and I had a bruise but I figured it would go away. The bruise is going away but not the pain. It hurts when I bend the elbow and when I straighten my arm too. I also have pain in my bicep and forearm when I touch in certain spots. AND NOW my left hand is tingly and feel prickly like pins and needles.
Has this happened to anyone else? I am freaking out, I'm so scared I'm gonna have permanent nerve damage or something.

Kate, did your pain last a whole week?
Pain doesn't scare me but tingling nerves and numbness in my hands do!!
Jessica you can bet I'm going to call them tomorrow. Or better yet just show up there in the morning.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I hate a bad blood draw! I've had a couple of that in my lifetime.
2 weeks ago, I dropped a ceramic plate and it cut between my thumb and index fingers to the point where my index finger was very numb and nerve was cut... it hurt REALLLLLLLY bad. I went to the doctor to make sure if i needed stitches..but didnt need it. she said numb/tingly should go away in few weeks. well it's been few weeks and it's slowly going away. i still can't use index finger to open door, etc. i use thumb and middle finger to do anything. it feels weird. we definitely take our fingers for granted! lol
i would contact the office and explain to them.

Thanks Kate and Aaron.
Aaron I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm glad you're getting the feeling back. It's a scary thing isn't it?
I called the office and I'm gonna go in today.

She probably nicked a tendon or a nerve. If a nerve got nicked it could take several weeks to heal. Like Aaron I cut my finger a few years ago (2 stitches for me). It took nearly a year to fully regain the feeling in my finger tip!

Thank Kim - yes, the dr. said most likely the nurse hit a nerve and said it can take a couple of weeks to get better (although I'm sure it might take longer).
She also mentioned since I'm pregnant I might be more sensitive to these physical irritations and also that pregnant women often get symptoms of carpal tunnel. She said the pain my forearm and biceps is referred pain.
Well I'm glad it's nothing more serious. I just hope I heal fast!
Oh and I did get an early u/s out of the visit She saw I was a bit concerned with my progesterone number (it went to 18 from 25 2 weeks ago) so she ordered me a u/s for next week This dr. is filling in for my regular doc who did NOT (and apparently does not ever) order an early u/s.. she said she might get in trouble from him but she gave it to me for peace of mind. how sweet is she??

I hope it heals soon! I had my blood drawn once a week for a month last year for the clinical trial I did and I think one of the ladies did the same type of thing because I had pain in there for months.
I'm also glad they set you up with an ultrasound, that was really nice!

Aaron, it's not that he was NEVER gonna give me a u/s - he had already scheduled one for me on Oct. 21 - but I would have been 12 weeks already and I'm a little nervous, given my m/c so this doc went behind his back and ordered this earlier one for me
Ouch Erica! It took months? eeek I'm glad you're better now though!

Thanks Christina - what would you like pics of? I haven't been to the U/S yet, that's not until next week!
And I don't know if they will give out any pics.. it's just a tech doing it, not an OB. I don't know what the protocol is behind asking for one of the pics

Hooray for getting an earlier u/s. By next week you should easily be able to see the HB! Be sure to share your results with us.
