Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit l 2008

I LOVE this thing!! Josie got too strong for her swaddle and was waking up multiple times per night with her arms waving around and crying. She has a serious startle reflex, and wakes herself up really easily. I put her down without a swaddle in a sleeping sack pajama thing, and a car drove by and startled her awake, so not swaddling wasn't really an option. She really wouldn't sleep during the day either, and was cranky all the time (from lack of sleep I have figured out now), so we thought we would try it.

It works so well. She was starting to sleep longer in the swaddle, like 5-7 hours, until she started getting out of it. She went right back to sleeping 5+hours. The first night, she slept 8 hours before she wanted to be fed! (Probably from a crappy sleep the night before). She also started taking naps in the middle of the day with it, her first nap was an hour, and her nap today is nearly three hours so far! She is MUCH happier now that she's sleeping better. She can be getting tired and cranky and as soon as the suit is on, she starts smiling and kicking because she knows sleep is coming.

It works like a swaddle because she can't twitch herself awake, and she seems much happier with her arms away from her body (Which is why she started fighting the swaddle I think), and it keeps her nice and warm. It's just fantastic. I had to share because it's not super well marketed, and anyone else who has similar sleep issues should definitely try it out.

Here she is modeling her pink one and her yellow one!

KLaiden was swaddled till last week, he started rolling over during the night - while swaddled, that is dangerous, so we had to stop, and it is not fun at all...

Is that thing hot (we live in Florida)
how does it work?

I was always afraid of the rolling over while swaddled too, she just turned into a houdini before she could roll over in the thing

It's not too hot, we live in Utah (Desert), and I've been using it since August. We do keep our house pretty cool, but I just put her in it in a onesie, or only her diaper if it's warmer than normal. She's never been sweating when I get her out of it at all. Supposedly the inside layer is some sort of breathable something. It''s not like solid flannel or wool.

It works because the arms are pretty short, with a larger armpit area, so it keeps her arms down and puts a little weight on her, so she can't startle herself awake. It restricts her movement enough to keep her asleep, but when she's awake, she can move around in it reasonably well. She can get her hand in her mouth and stuff if she's really determined. Because of the position it keeps her arms in, I don't think she'd be able to roll while in it, but Kaiden is probably stronger than Josie is. Even if he were able to roll over, he should be able to roll back if he wanted to, but I have no experience with rolling in sleep because she doesn't do it yet .

I found she needed the swaddle desperately, there is no way she could have slept with nothing. It has definitely put her back to sleeping better, as well as an added nap during the day, which I could never get her to take even with the swaddle. Let me know if you try it on Kaiden and how you like it. It has really seemed like magic to me
