[KDD]

I had an appointment for my gestational diabetes test at 10am this morning. I was prepared to be there for about an hour so I brought a book with me.

The drink actually wasn't very bad - it wasn't good, but it wasn't bad. It reminded me a lot of the McDonald's orange drink. After I drink it they tell me to go sit in the foyer on the comfortable couches and they will come and get me.

So I go out there and I wait, and I wait, and I wait. I know that the timing of this test is pretty important so at 11:30 I go back into the lab (feeling all forgotten) and ask how much longer I'll have to wait. The lady at the counter said "1/2 hour".

Ok - so apparently I'm doing a 2 hour test, not a 1 hour test. So I go back out to the foyer to sit and wait. By now I'm getting pretty hungry. I have a granola bar in my purse, but I don't want to eat it and screw up the test.

At 12:20 (nearly 2.5 hours later) I go back into the lab again and ask. This time they took me in. I was so tired and hungry that I didn't even ask them when I'll get the results!

I hope that I pass so I don't have to do this again!


**UPDATE** I just got a call from the lab. They screwed up - it WAS supposed to be a 1 hour test. Now I have to go back and do it again tomorrow. GRR Talk about a wasted day!

Ughhh...so sorry the lab screwed up and that you have to do it all over again

That's sooo frustrating! When I took it, I got all nauseous and was ready to puke. I would've been so annoyed if they made me take it again

Here's today's update. I went back to the lab that they told me to go to today to redo my test. And guess what? It's closed for the weekend! Now I'll have to take time off work on Monday to get this done. So not only have I wasted 2.5 hours yesterday (my day off), now they had me waste time today and I'll lose time at work on Monday. My Dr. will be hearing about this on Friday!

ugh that's ridiculous!!! I'm sorry you have to go through it all over again Hopefully you can go early enough on Monday that you won't lose too much time at work!

aarrgh!!! That is infuriating!! I am dreading mine because I have passed out from low blood sugar several times before, and consequently I NEVER skip breakfast. I have to do the test though because GD runs in my family. I would be furious if I had to do it twice!! I hope it comes back negative for you!

I feel for you. I had to get that test done but for 5 hrs. i suspected I had hypoglycemia. My sugar went wack so I felt so bad so I know how it is.

OMG Kim that is totally unacceptable . I would be bringing it up to your doctor for sure. How can they justify doing something like that to a pregnant lady, my goodness.

So not cool!!! Do they not understand that our hormones are out of control the way it is....so to mess this up just makes it 1000x worse for us! haha UGH!!! (BTW I am definitely a MOODY pregnant lady! haha)
