well my first appt was at 9am today....not really happy with them...they refused to do an u/s AND she couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler (she told me it was to early). I'm also very displeased that they will not let me deliver in the hospital of my choice the only way I would be able to deliver there is if I had a scheduled c-section That hospital is 45 mins away from me and an hour or more from our family. I'm seriously not happy with this place. I'm seriously thinking after my u/s next Friday I'm going to be finding a different doctor that will deliver where I WANT TO BE!!!!!

Sucks that you are not happy with them. But you are right to want to change doctors if you are already not happy. I have a few girls in my DDC who waffled on changing doctors and finally did at the end of their pregnancy (or didn't and were miserable). If you are thinking about changing doctors this early on I say do it!

I agree with michelle, i'd start looking for a new doc if you don't like them. Did you already have the u/s scheduled for next week or did they make the appt today? I know insurance is very picky about when they do u/s and how they do them. Just curious. As for the hospital...idk?? I know my Dr's office only delivers at three hospitals and they're all hospitals that are close to their office. I actually wasn't going to get to deliver at the hospital i'm going to but they got rights there recently so it became an option. Sometimes i guess you just have to choose between the hospital you want and the dr you want. Sounds like you'll be happier if you find a different doctor though.

Definitly find a new place if you arent happy there. Better now than later IMO. Cant wait to hear updates from next weeks u/s!

^^I agree. Start looking today. If the new doctor can get you in soon, I'd cancel the current appointment. I know my insurance would only allow X number of u/s and I wouldn't want to waste one or potential have to redo and pay for one.
I'm assuming that the other hospital is closer? We passed up a hospital when I gave birth, but the one we went to was about 12 minutes from the house (the one we passed was about 3 minutes). It gets really exciting when things start to happen....like your water breaking....and I personally can understand not wanting to drive 45 minutes.

I liked the ppl just not the fact that they won't let me deliver where I want to. I talked to a friend who is going to the same office and seeing the same OB as me (she's 15 weeks) and they told her she could choose where she wanted to deliver. She's gonna call them or ask at her next appt. (18th) about it. If they would agree to deliver at the other hospital (you were right leann the other hospital is 20 mins away)

I'm sorry it didn't go very well. I switched DRs with this pregnancy. I wasn't happy with the service I received last time during my last pregnancy and loss and when I met with them in the beginning of this pregnancy I was less impressed. Plus, they deliver at the hospital that is the farthest from my house. Thankfully I found a great clinic, that's close to home, and that delivers at the hospital that's closest to home too.

Is there a reason that they told you no?
My doctors office preferred me to give birth at the one I did because their office is in the adjoining building.
You could just go to that hospital when you are in labor. You would have to be delivered by whatever oncall doctor is there but really, the nurses are the ones who are taking care of you and will help you push, etc. My doctor was off the day I went into labor, so I got an oncall and she was really great. We got to the hospital at 8:30am and didn't see the doctor until just after 9pm when Julie's head started to come out and they had me stop pushing and had to page the doctor to hurry and come in. Before that, a nurse was the one with me. So be nice to your nurse

I'm sorry that your appointment did not go well. I agree that you should definitely change now rather than later. I hope that you can find a different dr. or that you can sort out things with this dr.

I think that is why they do it that way because the office is right across the parking lot from the hospital. My friend said that hospital is really good. But our family is so far away from that hospital that I don't want to make them drive that far. I'm going to explore my options and think about it.

I'm sorry That must have been really frustrating! I agree that you should switch docs if you're already having doubts. You will be seeing him/her A LOT and you need to have good chemistry together. Just tell whoever you see next that you would REALLY feel a lot better if they would perform an u/s.

Even though I had commented on fb i'm still sorry that it wasn't a good appointment. I changed my doctor too, but it was from him being an extremely stupid doctor. I hope you are able to switch so that you can get the hospital of your choice.

Maybe your doctor doesn't have privilages at the hospital you want. There are many factors that go into which hospital they can deliver at and many times the doctors only have privilages at 1 or 2 hospitals.
If you really want a certain hospital, call some OBs and just ask the office which hospital they usually deliver at. That way you can find a doc who likes to deliver at the hospital you want. It's easier if the doctor is happy and is a regular at the hospital you're at because then he knows all the staff, protocols, etc.
If you're going to switch, I would do it sooner rather than later so you don't have a stressful pregnancy worrying about docs.

I'm Sorry you had a bad appointment! I agree with the other girls - better to do it sooner than later.
I switched too. I switched from an OB to a mid-wife at 30 weeks. I wish I would have had my midwife from the beginning!
