I had my 36-37 week appt today. It was a long one. First off, i lost 1.2 lbs...not even sure how?! I have basically gained 2 lbs in this last tri, which I know isn't totally weird but its a little weird. BP was alright for me, 133/91. They said sometimes it spikes towards the end. I am 1cm dialated, so some progress is good. Got my GBS test and blood work done...so fun.

So then she measures me and I'm measuring small. We started NSTs today, he did great. He was taking a little nap, but some OJ woke him up. He did great and the nurse said he's very healthy and did exactly what he was supposed to...it just took a little while to get him to cooperate. NOW...this where the fun starts. My dr wanted another growth u/s. I'm still not sure how small I measured, but my last u/s was 33 weeks.

WELL....i had an u/s at 1pm approx 25 days since my last u/s. Upon doing measurements he IS small. I am 36w4d by their calendar and his head measured 33ish weeks, tummy around 32, but leg bones were 36ish. So he's gonna be long I guess...i'm totally freaked about the rest of the measurements though and it brought his weight est down to 4lb 10 oz....his weight measurement almost 4 weeks ago was 4lb 9 oz....so has my baby REALLY gained 1 oz in nearly 4 weeks?!!!!! I'm sincerely hoping she measures differently than the tech we have seen previously, and that this is off. I know its not totally accurate. I didn't get to see my Dr again after the u/s but she gets my info so HOPEFULLY she'll call me if something is wrong. He should REALLY have grown in the last 4 weeks. He was a tiny bit behind last time, but NOTHING like today.

At this point i'm kinda freaked out. Why would my baby not grow for 4 weeks?!! She did say my fluid and placenta looked great.

So at this point I just really need some fatty vibes for baby Tyler. I'm kind of a mess...its a toss up between this could be way off and things are fine, and what is wrong with my baby?!!

I was a little baby, so maybe he is gonna take after me, but they told me he was measuring very average, so what happened?!!!

It appears he does have my nose and chin....so far that's all i've been able to determine:

Aw Kate i'm sorry things didn't go more like you hoped they would. But I'm sure Tyler is fine! Maybe this is just him telling you to eat more fatty foods like mcdonalds and burger king! I know this is in the opposite direction, but the doc told my cousin - in - law she needed a c-section because her baby was gonna be 9 lbs... turned out she was off by 2 whole lbs! Could totally be the case with Tyler! I think wrong measurements can go either way and you know what? as smart as they may be... doctors don't know everything! As long as he hits the appropriate weight so that he doesn't need extra time in the hospital, look forward to the fact that he is taking over his mama and not going to be some 10 pounder! He'll probably start growing like a weed this week and end up being a good 7lbs by birth!

i know they can for sure be off, so i'm hoping perhaps she overestimated last time and the lady today underestimated some this time. AND its entirely possible that this tech measures differently than my previous tech that we have seen the last two times so her measurements made him seem smaller. I almost had a stroke though....ugh! There is really no way my boy gained 1 oz in four weeks.

I know the doctors were off when feeling my belly - both my doc and the doc that delivered me said I was going to have a big baby. My ultrasounds were pretty accurate though but that doesn't mean anything for you.

I do remember Erin (Etp007 i think) had an issue with the placenta/cord and they said that for her son it was trying like trying to get nutrients from a coffee straw. I'm not sure if they found that during an u/s or after she delivered but she might be a good person to ask about her experience.

I am going to be giving you fatty vibes for Tyler!! I am definitely hoping that one of the techs or both of them were wrong. I am sure that Tyler is going to be a nice healthy baby...even if he is small, I'm sure once he is out, he will pack on the pounds and be a nice chubby baby!

*hugs* I'm sorry the appointment worried you...are they going to do another ultrasound or anything?

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't gain any weight at all in the third trimester.

and I'm with Lee Ann...talk to Erin.

So sorry the ultrasound measurements scared you. Baby L will send Tyler all the chubby vibes you want!

The ultrasound tech and my doctor have said ultrasounds can be off my 20 % up or down. That means Tyler could have gained much more than 1 oz and it is just like you said, this tech measures differently than the other.

We had the opposite happen with Baby L's femur measurement - one ultrasound showed it right on track and the next one actually showed it was behind by a few weeks... but the third one showed it was back on track. Because we have had so many ultrasounds we have seen all of the measurements fluctuate.

IDK if they'll give me another one or not?? My Dr hasn't called so i'm taking that as good thing. Sometimes i think its just better NOT to know these things... but one off measurement can skew the whole thing so i'm trying to be a little more logical and a little less emotional. Its hard when you're the mommy though!!

I'm sorry Kate that your appointment has left you worried Like others said, the u/s can be off each time. I've heard it makes a difference in where they are position, how much fluid you have, etc... So many factors.

Was the u/s just a regular one or a 2nd level? if the doctor is worried, I'm sure he/she will have you do another one. KUP on what your doctor tells you.

And I'll send Tyler some fatty vibes - and like Michelle said, use this time to eat some yummy fattening food

I am sure he is fine, if they suspected anything they wouldn't send you away. My SIL had a higher risk pregnancy and they had to induce at 37 weeks and they would NOT let her leave, they sent her straight to L&D. It could be that he just grew in length and plus, those things are never 100% accurate. Just try to relax and know that if the doctor finds ANYTHING he/she will let you know!! {{{HUGS}}}

I agree to up your fatty food intake. Erin also had HP which is why she was induced at 36 weeks. I wouldn't worry until you hear from your dr. They may ask to scan you next week to see.

I don't think they knew what condition her cord was in (Erin's I mean) until after she delivered.

Lots of good luck vibes to you!!!!

I'm going to ask her when i go back on Monday. B is going to come with me. I have NST first and then Dr's appt. My NST was great yesterday and my BP was 133/91. I read Erin's story this morning it is a possibility that could be what's happening. I have chronic high BP and at this point if i'm still small I may have to prepare myself that she may want to induce earlier? IDK...i'm 37 weeks this week and measuring pretty far behind both in fundal height and on u/s. I know Erin had developed pre-e and I am on meds and have been monitored for pre-e throughout my pregnancy. I'm just ready to get him out now b/c i'm nervous something might be wrong and i don't know what. And like Lyz said, they may not determine the cause until after he's out. Definitely trying to enjoy being a fatty this week, though honestly i just don't feel good and i don't want to eat a lot, probably b/c i'm worried and sad. So i'm trying to be lazy and eat lots of bad stuff!! hahaha

Sorry I am just now seeing this!

This is the same thing that happened to me! I'm not saying it will be the same in the end but it started this way. Everything was fine, I measured small all along but it progressively got more and more behind until they decided to do a growth scan which showed he was very small and behind. I was placed on bed rest to limit the calories burned throughout the day. At this point, like you, they weren't sure if it was just because I was a small person, because I wasn't getting enough fat/calories or because of a high metabolism. Over the next few weeks, I began having major high BP issues, was placed on a stricter bed rest and continued with the growth scans. Once they realized he just wasn't gaining weight and my BP got worse and worse, they did a c/s. It wasn't until I delivered that I was diagnosed with severe pre-eclampsia, resulting in fetal growth restriction. No matter what I was putting in, the blood vessels were so restricted that he wasn't getting adequate nourishment. I would just see to it that they keep a close eye on you. Inform them of any deviations from the norm and take it easy. I know how VERY VERY scary it can be to be in your shoes. PM me any any any time Lots of fattening up vibes coming your way!

I just went back and re-read your last post and just wanted to say, again, I can relate!

They didn't suspect the pre-e until the very very end for me. I had a-typcial, meaning I didn't show many of the symptoms until the day of delivery (protein spilling, imbalance/etc). And I felt the same way- ABSOLUTELY NO appetite. Hang in there sweetie! try to take it easy

luckily my induction is scheduled for 2 weeks from today but I'm going to ask her if she thinks this COULD be a possibility. At this point my only concern is getting him out safely.

Did Kylar have any other problems other than low birth weight? I'm just worried if this is it he hasn't been getting enough oxygen as well?? You would think they'd say SOMETHING after an u/s that shows he hasn't grown in 4 weeks. I'm thinking at this point i'm gonna call them tomorrow and ask what they thought. Hopefully that will ease my mind, b/c at this point i can barely sleep b/c i want to feel him moving. If i didn't have that u/s i'd have no idea anything was wrong, but something has to be off if i'm measuring this small and so is he!
