So we're going to have 2 new babies this christmas. Of course we don't want to leave them out but what do NEW babies really need for Christmas?! Tyler will be all of about 8-9 weeks old and Hudson, our nephew, will be less than a month. I started thinking maybe toys that they can use sometime later in the year since they wont' have birthdays for a while...

Anyone run into this before?? I mean, i'm tempted to not get my kid anything...what does he need at this point?! He doesn't care about presents, but i know everyone else will be asking.

I have been thinking about this lately too but I know I will get Baby L something. I am thinking just a stocking with a few small items (like socks, pacifiers, sofie, etc) and some clothes. Perhaps if we don't get something for our baby shower that I really want we will get it and give it to Baby L for christmas.

sofie is a BRILLIANT idea!!

Yeah Tyler will probably get anything he might need, and i'm picking out things like play mats or walkers/toys that grandparents may want to get. My mom and I were at BRU this weekend and they had a cute jeep walker thing. I said, see Grammy, Tyler wants THAT!! lol

I have also been thinking about this. And had decided I would just do a "small" christmas. Such as some stuffies, socks, etc. And hope that my family doesn't go overboard!!!

Michaels a little older, obviously, so we're not in quite the same situation but you could ask for stuff for when he's older... "older" toys/bigger clothes etc...? Otherwise i dont know!

that's what i was thinking Sam. Since his next birthday will be before Christmas and then he'll be over a year old next Christmas (obviously!! ) he won't be getting many gifts the rest of the year.

Obviously Rayanne is a little bigger than your LO as well, but I am planning on getting her some items for when she is bigger. I probably will only wrap one or two presents, just because there is no need to wrap all of them, when even she won't be interested in them.

Yeah we're sort of in the same situation in that since Michaels birthday is two weeks after Christmas he wont get gifts any other time of year....... so we're asking for stuff all the way through 18 months for him!

poor little holiday babies!! I always thought it was no big deal for my friends who had birthday in November/December, but really as the parent you have to give it some good thought, at least while they're little.

I think toys they can grown into over the year is a good idea... I have SO MANY CLOTHES its not even funny. Plus we may have a peanut so who knows how fast he'll grow!?!!

Julie is getting a soft play climber from us Soft Play Climbers For Kids - Soft Play Climbers
I'm just not sure which one yet. Of course, she will almost be 7 months then.

But I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the things that "come up" that you may want. Even if it is something for you...like the Beaba baby food cooker!
Beaba Babycook - Sorbet - Best Price
Which I want but won't shell out for!

Also, I'm a January baby....very early January and I always got ripped as a kid.

Rayanne is lucky I guess because she has 6 months between Christmas and her birthday...I never really thought about that before. By my birthday is on Halloween...so I often got jipped...and DH and I were talking..we are unofficially changing my birthday to the 30th of October now that we have kids. I don't want to take away from Rayanne's halloweens!!!

I'm hoping that the Progeny is here in time for Xmas. I don't know that he'll get anything from us this year. I think the business of being born will be enough for us to get through!

I'm on the same page as Kim. I think we're going to just let this be our last christmas where we are getting things for each other since the rest of them are going to be focused on Darcy.

Hunter was born on December 20, so she was only 5 days old last Christmas. We got her a little stuffed bear and that was about it, the family bought her clothes and stuff. This year she will be 1 and we are taking her to New York for her actual birthday with my whole family and then back to my brothers in Ontario for Christmas, so we aren't doing gifts.

This year we are doing a big first birthday instead and we will focus on Christmas next year when she is 2. We have already decided that we won't decorate for Christmas until after she has her birthday party, just so that they are still seperate. It is hard having a baby so close to the holiday!!!

Oh wow. I never thought of this. My little man wont be here in time for Christmas this year (I HOPE) since I am due Feb. 7th, but he will be fairly close to the holidays from here on out. Luckily he will be almost one before he has a Christmas so that will be nice. I guess on a side night, it might be nice having him right after Christmas. That way for birthdays you can shop some of the after Christmas deals and find some cheap birthday presents!!!

Bella was an October baby and was 9 weeks at Christmas. DH and I didn't get her anything because we knew the grandparents would (all 8 of them!!!). Most of them got her things she could use when she was a bit older (stocking stuffer things like spoons, teethers, etc). Bigger gifts were toys like an activity table, blocks, etc.

It was nice to get this stuff and pull out to play with later down the road. All the new baby stuff wore off by then and not many people think about getting things for your LOs for their older months (6+ months) at your shower (people love to buy newborn things!!!)

Anyway, this got her through and we've managed to not buy her any toys (except a few small things here and there but only because I wanted to, not because I had to). She's about to get a ton of new stuff for her birthday and I can't wait!!!
