So i went for my first appointment today. I have myself at 4 weeks and 2 days...The nurse put me down as 5 weeks 2 days since my last period was sept22...BUT i have a 34 day cycle every month..not 28. Anyway that was just one thing that annoyed me. So she said that we'd do an u/s next week to confirm how far along i am. So after that she just took a history and talked to me about different things. After that I left.

They never had me pee in a cup to confirm pregnancy they just took me at my word? Also they didn't take a test either!? So i'm just a little concerned..Should they have done those things or no since i'm only 4-5 weeks? When i had first called they said congrats lets schedule you for when your 8 weeks... i told them i have pcos, a blocked left tube, and i'm insulin resistant. So they said they'd see me this week. I just thought i'd have more stuff done today Should I call back tomorrow or just wait for Nov 6th when I get my u/s done? I just wanna make sure the baby is ok

I didn't have ANYTHING done with this pg until 8 wks either. That's when they did all the blood work and u/s. It was a little unnerving since they did so much with my 1st pg (because of infertility). I understand. The numbers honestly will mean more when you are further along. Not to mention that you will be able to see a hb with your u/s. I would try to be patient and wait it out. I know you are anxious, but that is normal, I'm still anxious and I'm almost 18 wks. LOL

I'd wait until your appt (and put together a list of questions to ask at that appt). Normally doctors won't see you before 8 weeks unless you've had an issue. I'm going at 6 weeks too for an early U/S because I had a loss 2 years ago. At your appt, they will definitely have you give a urine sample, take blood pressure, weight, etc. Also, they rarely care how long your cycle is unless it is like 2 months or something. I would definitely tell them how long it is normally though right before they do the u/s so that if it comes up a week behind, they'll know why. If you are really concerned, you can ask to have some bloodwork done prior to the appt but they may say that unless you are having complications, they will do it at your appt. Good luck and can't wait to hear how your U/S goes!

I was with an RE when I got PG, so I got an early U/S, but after that, my OB didnt give me an U/S till 10.5 weeks!! I also Oed on CD21...I just told her during the U/S, so that she wouldnt think I was measuring behind...and it was all good...
Good luck, the first few weeks go my SO.S.L.O.W.L.Y....but it speeds up after that!!

My gyn doesn't deliver babies, so I had to be referred. They couldn't get me in until 10 weeks. My doc called over there on my behalf to make sure they would take me as a patient since some doctors don't see new patients. So my gyn told me if I had any problems before then to call her.

I really liked having the late appointment, the first trimester seemed to go much quicker to me.

I couldnt even see my OB until I was 8 weeks along. Just relax, next week they will confirm everything. I am sure its just fine and nothing to worry about.

My OB did bloodwork on me right away just because I have a history of low progesterone, but other than that my first appointment and ultrasound was at 8 weeks. Since you'll only be 5 weeks when you have your ultrasound don't worry if you don't see very much on there! And if your doctor has you a week ahead, make sure you tell them at the ultrasound that your cycles are longer, like pp said otherwise they will think you're measuring behind and worry you for no reason.

They wouldn't even schedule an appointment for me until I was about 8 weeks. I was seen at 6 wks though due to bleeding.

My Dr. doesnt schedule you until 6-8 weeks either. My first pregnancy i didnt find out until i was over 5 1/2 weeks then miscarried two days after my drs appt. I wish i had waited instead of going through the whole new patient process, answering all the questions etc only to have it end up that way.

With Mikey i found out when i tested at 13dpo but didnt schedule anything until 6ish weeks bec/ my mom was in town and i didnt want her to know yet... plus i figured i would wait and see if i made it that long that time so i didnt have the same situation i had the first time. I actually ended up having an u/s before i even went in to meet my midwife bec/ i was bleeding and they weren't available at my dr to do the u/s so they sent me somewhere else. THEN i went in and talked to the doctor and answered all the health questions and stuff. So my stuff all sort of went backwards... If i hadnt had a loss or spotting i would have had my first appt at 8ish weeks and then not had an u/s until 12 weeks (and that u/s was optional)

Anyway, i'm rambling now but i just wanted to say yes that seems normal to me

My RE did the initial pg test and an early u/s. When I went to my regular Dr. they did a pg test and scheduled a 12 week scan, but that was it. That's pretty common here, they will confirm a pg, but not do anything until 12 weeks. Dont' worry, you have tons of tests to do in the very near future!
