Sorry it has taken so long to get this up but Jack is here. He arrived on October 27th at 10:17 pm. He is the light of my life. We had a long 17 hour labor with an epideral that only worked on one side of my body.
Wednesday October 27th at 5:30 I was up checking email. I was scheduled to go in to begin my induction later on that afternoon. So my plan was to finish the last few things around the house, laundry, dishes etc. WEll I had been sick with a cold and so I was coughing. One cough broke my water and it started gushing everywhere. I grabbed a trash can and put it under me to keep as much off the hardwood floors as possible

DH was in the shower I waddled back to him to tell him my water had broken. DH is deaf and trying to communicate this to him when he had shampoo running in his eyes was not easy. He hurriedly rinsed and began to get ready to go. I was eerily calm. So happy that Jack had decided to come on his own

We got to the hospital and they confirmed that my water did indeed break. THey checked me into a room and so began the wait. I was not having any contractions and Jack was still really high up. So they started pitocin. The contractions were bearable at first. Just enough to make me scrunch up my face. As the day progressed they uped the dosage and around 3:30 I was in enough pain to ask them to check how dilated I was so I could get my epideral. I was at a 4 but they had to push fluids before they could give me my epideral. So I got staydal I think that is how you spell it to tide me over. It knocked me out. I was soooo loopy when they came in to give the epideral. I was confortable for a while. I could feel the numbness working but only on one side my left. I asked the nurse and she said that we could lay on the opposite side and gravity would help the other side numb up. Never happened!!! All that did was bring jack down and and make me dilate from a 4 to an 8 in like an hour. I was in horrible pain and getting very nervous that I would not be able to do this. 45 minutes later the puking began and the contractions were coming hard and fast. They checked and I was at a 10 and ready to push. I pushed for an hour. I was tired and in a lot of pain and ready to just throw in the towel. The doctor could see I was fading fast. He offered the vaccum and said I had 3 pushes using this otherwise it would be C section. I pushed so hard and got him out in two.
I was so exhausted when he came out and really out of it. I just stared and could not believe that the little guy was really there. He was beautiful and healthy!!! I was so relieved and so blessed.
I had an episotomy and I tore so my recovery has been tough. I have not been bleeding too bad. Just been really sore.
Jack is an awesome baby. He has nights and days mixed up but that is doable right now since I am out of school. We are going to have to help him get on a different schedule so I can function once I go back to school. I will have to get ont he other computer to post pics. DH has them all on the lap top. But I wanted to share. Little Jack is here and doing great! Those that are close to delivering.... Make sure they get that epideral working if you are relying on that to get you through.
