It's been such a LONG day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had 2 appointments this morning.......... with the us and doctor. Afterwards, DF and I went shopping and went out eat then during evening, I went out shopping with my sister and favorite cousin. I'm pooped.
The ultrasound tech was really nice and took lots of photos. The baby was very stubborn for like 30 mins not showing the goodies cuz its legs were crossed all the way! Also the baby kept looking away from the ultrasound and was "boxing" like You want a piece of me!!! SOOOO CUTE!!!!!! the baby weighs 11 oz.
Soooo here's the photos...................
ready???
ARE YOU SURE?
YAHOOOOOO I'm on Team Blue!!!!
I'm so excited!!!! Now I have to decide what to name him!!!! Oh boy!!!
After the US, we went to the doctor's office for a regular checkup. The doctor said that she finally got all the bloodwork results from Maryland's OB/gyn that I had done in August. She said I am a carrier for Cystic Fibrosis. I was very shocked. She recommended my DF get tested for CF carrier. So he did the bloodwork right away. We will wait 3-5 days. I'm like.... is it treatable... will our baby have full life expectancy? Dr said if DF is not a carrier, then we are safe...
Anyone have experience with CF???

Congrats on being Team Blue!
All I know about CF is that both you AND your DH need to be carriers in order for there to be a chance for complications. I hope his tests come back OK

Congrats!!! Try not to stress about CF until you get the results...thoughts and prayers sent your way that he is not a carrier.

Congrats! I hope your DF is not a carrier. If he is then I think there is a 25% chance that the baby will have it, 50% chance that he will be a carrier and a 25% chance that he won't have it and won't carry it. Of course I'm going way back to genetics courses from college and that was a long time ago, so I may have that wrong.
If your DH is not a carrier then your baby has a chance to carry it, but won't have it.

Congrats. Elissa (Liss) had this type of concern after the baby was born from the heel sticks, if I remember correctly.

Thanks everyone! DF is so excited... I'm soooo beyond happy! I have all the plans for him! picking a name is so hard! df and i had an agreement in the beginning that he pick a girl name and i pick a boy name. so it's all on me. of course he will give some feedback. gosh where to start!
I don't know how people do it but waiting for 3-5 days for blood-work results... COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't think i can wait thru the weekend!!!! I'm gonna call tomorrow just to check if they have the results.
i really doubt DF is a carrier... his 2 sisters had children without assistance.... and his sister told me no one in the family ever had CF carrier or anything. Neither did my mom's or dad's family... so I'm stumped who inherited it to me!
I was thinking... and talked to my mom and dad about this.. they don't know which one is the carrier... My mom said she would take CF testing to see if she's a carrier cuz my sister is 14.... my dad still have few children left that haven't had children... (3 boys and 1 girl left that have no children)... I haven't asked dad to get tested for CF carrier. I'll wait til my mom gets her result and see if she's not a carrier, then ill ask dad to get tested. What do you think?
LeeAnn, I talked to Liss about this on FB. Thanks!

I'm a CF carrier too. It freaked me out when we got the results but DH is negative so there was no problem. They still made us go see the genetic counselor though.
One of your parents have to be a carrier in order for you to be a carrier. But, it really doesn't matter which one so there's no reason for them to get tested. It's now part of the routine screening for all women planning on getting pregnant in the US. So, just tell your sister's to get tested through there OB when the time comes. Both of my sisters will be tested this way now that we know it runs in our family.

It's much easier to know which parent is the carrier cuz it's complicated... my mom only has me (with my dad) and my sister (with her 2nd husband).... my dad has 6 children... 1 brother already has 5 children... (I have 4 brothers 1 sister) so left is 3 brothers and sister who haven't start a family. Mom is gonna get tested just to see if she's a carrier. It's no big deal for her to do it, she said.
Interesting you had to see a genetic counselor. I haven't been referred yet. Thanks for sharing your side. It's scary to know we are carriers huh?
