I had a medela swing - sold it last week. Got it cause it was compatible with the Lactina that I rented from the medical supply store - plus I had a target coupon from registering for an extra percentage off.
I personally wouldn't buy it again. Next time if I need one I'll just rent again. For me, I just really needed a double pump at work. I lugged the rental around for awhile but it got to be a pain especially since I was expressing so little milk.

I have an older model medela pump in style. I love it. I use it with the Ameda kit so it's a closed system. I did have an evenflo double electric, and it really hurt ant turned my nipples purple.

I have the medela swing, and I love it. It would have been really nice to have a double pump since that's all I do for Rayanne is pump, but they are WAY too expensive. I have used the medela every day since Rayanne came home, and it has been an awesome pump. I love it.

Glad to hear you like it Marci. That's what i ordered b/c like Lee Ann i had a coupon, plus it was already 10% off on their site and i get an additional 5% off when i use my red card! So i got it for $120 shipped! Hopefully it will be good for me as well. I was supposed to get a FreeStyle from my friend but she has taken her sweet time NOT giving it to me, so i gave up. This way if she still gets it to me, at least i'll have this one too.

I have the playtex system. I got it for $40 (retails $299) because my dads cousin works at playtex...I was stoked! It wasn't bad...if I didn't get that I would have gotten the ameda or lansinoh

I have a Medela pump in style. I loved it at first but now after almost 8 months it doesn't seem like the suction is as strong as it was in the beginning.

Have you changed the white membranes lately? I forget to every once in a while and think its not working as well or something could be up with my supply and as soon as I put new ones on its working wonderfully again!
I too have the Medela pump in style. I know they are very pricey - luckily my aunt has a young boy and she was only able to pump for about a month and offered to give it to me.

I have the Lansinoh double electric. I got it for about $100 on amazon. Very happy with it and haven't had any problems with it at all.
They have a new one that just came out with soft cups that I would love to try. But, mine owrks great so I'm not getting a new one anytime soon.

I agree change the white membrane, and recently, because I use mine all the time, I had to replace the yellow part that holds the membrane (it had gotten a little crack in it) but it's sucking like a pro again now.

You can also by different cups for the medela swing one. If you think the cup size doesn't fit, and you get two for like $12. I had to get a new one, because I was boiling my cup every day, because I thought I needed to, and the glue came apart on it (like 4 months after I got it) It is not made to be boiled that often. Now if I feel it needs a really good cleaning, I'll throw it in a sterilization bag.

Thanks girls! I will definately try changing out the membranes. How often are they supposed to be changed? I also had tried taking the face plate off and cleaning it but that didn't help at all.

Let us know how it goes once you change them. I'm not sure how ofter you are supposed to change them - I do when I notice an output difference!

I had the Medela Swing with Z, loved it but it like died so I got a Medela single electric, one I don't like it as much as the Swing, but couldn't afford another Swing. Only use the pump to relieve engorgement and eventually for the occassional bottle.

I had to throw alot of membranes away. When I would pull them off the yellow thing, they would tear after about a month's use. Personally, I would check around at a medical supply store for parts if you have one and need extras. Since I was pumping all the time - I bought extra connectors, the yellow things, membranes and cups (I didn't like the softcup). The medical supply store that I bought from had connectors and cups for $4 a piece but they were not individually wrapped (only the membranes were) because they bought in bulk, but the savings was worth it. I was going to open the package and throw it away anyways.

Good tip Lee Ann. I have heard that the swing doesn't have a long life to it, but if you call Medela sometimes they will work with you. I guess they have awesome customer service, so that's nice! I really don't pump a lot but its nice to have the option.

I use a Medela Pump in Style as well. Interesting about changing the membranes. I never changed them in the 5 months I used the pump the first time around. I should probably do that before I break it out again this time around.

Kate - I don't know about the life of the medela swing, but my SIL used it for exclusively pumping for my niece for nearly a year, and never had a problem. I use mine multiple times a day, and besides the one thing with the cup (which was totally my fault for not reading the full directions, I'm a man that way some times) I have had no problems. I never thought of looking at a medical supply store for replacement parts, but I didn't find the ones at BRU too bad, so I guess that's why I never tried. Plus when the cup broke, I needed to find something right away since it was the only way to get food for Rayanne. I hope you are happy with your Swing.
