So I am seriously upset! I had my 1 hour this morning and just got the results back. I barely failed! Then I told the midwife that the nurse told me I needed to fast for the test, and she informed me that she shouldnt have told me that. However, I now have to follow a special diet for 3 days, Friday-Sunday after Thanksgiving while we are on vacation and I have my baby shower on that Friday! UGH!! And then I have to fast from midnight Sunday until my test on Monday is over! Not to mention I have an ultrasound scheduled for that morning as well. I am so upset!! I seriously felt just fine afterwards...and hearing that had I not fasted it may have been normal just ticked me off even more! SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!

Ugh, I don't blame you for being upset. They should just have you do the regular one again since you you were given wrong instructions. I did not fast for mine I don't think. I just remember having to drink the glucose before hand.

Thanks ladies!! I am just totally ticked...and they refuse to let me redo the 1 hour test....I am definitely not missing out on my Thanksgiving thats for sure! Good thing my diet doesnt start till the day after...sucks that its on my shower though.

Can you do the test the following week? Be like uhm sorry I have events where delicious food will be present and say you can't do it this weekend. I am not sure if thers is some timeframe though? Sorry you have to deal with this.

That happened to my SIL. Whatever the fail number is she was 1pt over that. They made her do the three hour and luckily she passed.

that's sucks! I'm sorry. My practice made me do the 3 hour as the first test (they don't do a 1 hour). I just did it this morning and it was AWFUL!! I really hope I passed so I don't have to do it again. My arm is totally beaten up. I hope you pass this time and can stop worrying about it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you failed your 1hr after fasting, you may have GD. That doesn't mean you'll definitely need insulin, just that you may be able to control it by diet and exercise.

I'm sorry - I failed my 1 hr (and 3hr) by only a few points (like less than 5- I don't remember exactly what) and was so pissed to be labeled w/ GD.

I would just tell them you're going to be out of town, and then schedule the apt. right when you get back. I mean they can't FORCE you to come into the office. Then you don't have to miss out on Thanksgiving, and your baby shower.

I wont have to miss any of my stuff. I will just be on the "diet", which I havent got yet, Friday-Sunday after Thanksgiving. So basically the last 3 days of my vacation and my baby shower (Friday) I wont be able to eat what I want to. I just feel so bad since we are staying with DHs parents that they are going to have to accomodate to me. I HATE being an inconvenience. I have my appointment the day after we get back. So we will get back late Sunday night and then I have my appointment on Monday.

That sucks. I had to fast for my 1 hour and barely failed it as well. I wonder if that's because they starve you and then load you full of sugar?! But I took the 3 hour and passed just fine. I didn't even alter my eating habits at all (although I couldn't really stand sugar throughout my pregnancy to begin with.)
