I had my weekly Dr. appt yesterday. My regular Dr was on vacation so an associate Dr. did the appointment. For once in my life I didn't like a Dr. telling me all of the information. Normally I love to know all that's going on, but not yesterday.
Here's the situation: Our baby has been measuring small. We've been getting regular u/s to monitor his growth. For the record, I'm okay that he's small. I was a small baby and I grew up just fine. There's always lots of time to grow after birth. This Dr. tells me that if the baby is still in the same growth percentile, or is measuring smaller (i.e. smaller percentile), they will induce me
For once I'm starting to freak out. The possibility of a C-section when we had low lying placenta didn't freak me out, but for some reason this does! Maybe that's because we're not quite ready for him to make his debut!
Our next u/s is on Monday and hopefully our Progeny will have put on some weight!

Well you know this is pretty much how I ended up. I was already scheduled for induction anyway. My situation was a bit different in that i didn't know if there was a medical reason why Tyler was so small, so i was anxious to get him out. He was born in the 4th percentile for weight I believe. At 2 weeks he was up to the 5th percentile, by 3 weeks he was in the 13th and by 5 weeks he was up to the 32nd! So the good new is he has been growing like a weed. I too was a small baby (6lb 3oz) and also chunked up fast. I'm sorry they want to induce but it may be in his best interest. As long as his lungs and such are fully developed he'll be fine, but i'm sure you want to experience the labor on your own. But i did want to share my experience thus far and tell you I'm sorry this isn't going the way you had planned!! The induction really was relatively easy though...so if you have to do it i hope its as easy for you!

Thanks Kate. I was going to PM you knowing you had a similar experience. Right now we're in the 10th percentile, but if he drops, they will want him out sooner. I just don't think I'm ready to stop being pregnant just yet.

Oh no Kim I am so sorry!!! Hopefully he will gain some weight over the weekend and since it is Grey Cup I am sure there will be lots of delicious football food to help with that
I wasn't ready at all when Hunter decided to make her appearance, I could have still been pregnant for another couple of weeks (and she came the day before her due date) I hope that everything works out for you and your family!!!

Kim I don't think the feeling of being ready to be done with pregnancy will ever come. We had Connor 2 days before his due date and I missed being pregnant almost immediately (and still do sometimes). Some women are ready to be done and some aren't. I don't know if that feeling will ever come for you.
However, if the progeny does come earlier than you had planned be assured that the doctors have the best interests of both of you in mind.
Also, we might be down there for an overnight trip in the first 2 weeks of December and it looks like the week visit will be in January now. So hopefully a playdate for Connor and progeny will happen in January!
Call if you need anything - even just an idea of what to expect with induction if that happens.

Kim...I'm so sorry that your Dr. are thinking of inducing you.
I'm not sure why I didn't mention this with Kate...but DH was 5 lbs 10 oz when he was born, and he was a few days over due...and well, you've seen him...he's now 6 feet tall, 290 lbs. So I'm sure he will grow fast.
Are they going to do the test to make sure everything if fully ready for him to be in the outside world. I don't think this is a concern at 37 wks, but I was just curious. It's tough but exciting thinking about not being pregnant anymore. You get to meet your little baby bean, but at the same time, you don't get to feel him inside. He is a strong little guy (I can tell by the way he moved your belly on your FB video.) I can't wait to see what he looks like.
I hope that everything goes well on Monday...I'm home all day...so feel free to text me if you like.

I wasn't ready for Bella either and they sprung that induction on me the same day she was born (38 weeks)! Bella was small too 5lb 14oz and gained 4lbs in the first month (she was an eater like no other haha).
You should PM Erin (etph007) too...Ky was a small baby (4.9lb at birth) but he's doing fantastic! She was induced at 36 weeks because of high blood pressure too.
Hopefully you can hang on for another 2-3 weeks!! are you dilated at all? I can't remember....

Michelle - for sure we can have a playdate in January. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates.
Lyz - I don't know if I'm dilated yet or not. I wasn't at the last u/s (2 weeks ago), and they didn't do a cervix check at the Dr. this week.
Honestly, I think I'm stressing out because we have so much more to do! I was looking forward to having at least 2 weeks off work before the baby. Let's face it, I'm a planner, I like to be ready. But I promise not to stress out until I know what's what after the u/s.

Hope he gets some chunk Kim, and dont worry abouit not being *ready* yet...with a newborn, they have so few needs, that you can get ready later...but hooray for being full term and having a healthy little kicker in there

I loved being pregnant and i definitely miss it! I know what you mean.
Lyz, Bella and Tyler were about the same size. He was also 5#14oz but was born at 38.5, He's gained nearly 4 lbs at the 5+ week mark!! lol
Kim PM me if you need anything. Sounds like small babies aren't that uncommon...but they do want to get them out if they're done growing so they can start fattening up on the outside!!
