I had my 6 week PP visit today. Green light, of course...for whatever. She gave me a Rx for the mini-pill if i want to fill it and we discussed the mirena. I have to do it before the end of the year if i want insurance to cover it. I'm really not sure what to do. I'm so 50/50 on the whole thing. All i know is i really can't trust myself to take the pill correctly and we don't need to have anymore babies for a couple of years, so its looking like the mirena will be going in in 2 weeks after they clear my benefits.

Other than that, my BP is still crap and she wants me to call me regular doc on that. If you'll recall he believes i just have white coat, so part of me is tempted to call another dr and get another opinion on that. I'm fairly certain I need to be medicated.

Overall not a bad visit. She thinks Tyler is adorable, all of the nurses were swooning and the front office girl volunteered to babysit for me! lol I told her if I ever decide to go anywhere i know where to find her!

I have mirena, but will probably get it out next December or January, and since I plan to ebf for a year, it's possible I won't even o until July, so mirena might have been overkill. But I didn't want a mini pill oops either. I wish there were more options for bfing ladies!

I thought the Mirena option was perfect for us! Then I got it put in and DH could still feel the "strings" no matter how short they snipped them, it was overall so uncomfortable for me that I had to get it removed after a month. I was soooo disappointed since I didn't want to worry about pills either for the next few years But, I know several ladies here that do have it and love it!

I am currently on mini-pills as well and hate that I have to remember to take it daily...I just set a daily alarm to remind me otherwise I would definitely forget!

yeah about that...

anyway, idk? I have talked to B, he pretty much says do whatever you want. She told me there is no point in getting the mirena if we want to try again in a year, but i'm pretty sure we won't be ready then. I'm thinking more like 2 years. But i also like the idea of just stopping the pill when i'm ready. If the mirena is fully covered like she thinks then it will just be my $25 copay which is much cheaper than monthly BC...blah blah blah, i hate this.

Kate< of course our timing would be the same on this one but I am currently weighing these options as well. My dr. said for the first three months of exclusive bfing the chance of getting pregnant with no bc is next to nill. the your chances increase slightly until 6 months at which point if you are still bfing then it is still very low. DH and i have not talked about number 2 but i would like them about 24-30 month apart which seems to make the mirena a bit of a waste. But given that my issue staying pregnant was hormonal i don't really want the pill roaming around messing things up... doesn't leave me many options.

But i was also told an oops birth with in 18 months would be risky due to possible uterine rupture. And my section was called "technically difficult" so I really have to be careful to not have an oops.

IDK michelle, depends on when you think you need to start trying. I know my SIL had one bad period and then got pregnant the second month they tried. Of course she also got pregnant with my niece first shot. I am thinking i'll get it taken out around his 2nd birthday, but then again who knows how long it will take to get pregnant again. It took 18 months to get Tyler (with one miscarriage) + the 9 months of pregnancy so 27 months total, but it took my grandma 2 years to get pregnant with my aunt and then she had 6 kids in 10 years... Its too hard to judge. I just know that right now i'm way too tired to be pregnant and have a baby!! LOL

Sounds to me like we're both good candidates for the mirena, idk about the pill b/c i've never taken it...but i don't really want to start either. Then there is the option of just going back to charting. what to do, what to do...

I guess that's the benefit of our unexplained infertility. We won't be using anything afterwards. If we do happen to get pg I'm sure we'll need someone to pick our jaws up off the floor!

OK Im wondering how common condoms are over there. I rarely see anyone mention them? Thats what we use or do many use them along with other BC?

definitely not the most popular option Em. I'd say it is among the teenage boy population but that seems to be about it! I for one HATE condoms and would rather run the risk of pulling out (which we used effectively for YEARS) than use a condom.

Em, that is going to be our method I think. My dr. doesn't really like that idea because he told me they are only about 90% effective but that is due to inproper use. They worked for us for years with no issue so we willl likely go back to them again unless DH has a huge problem with that.

Good luck with your decision... I've been on the mini pill since having Billy and I take it right before I go to bed so I dont forget. I leave them on my night stand so when I set my alarm I see them and remember!
