Hellooooo bedrest and early MAT leave! Well i've had high bp readings all week so i have been put on bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy and will start doing non stress tests twice a week, had my first one today. I have to admit i'm not horribly upset not to be going back to work. It's been totally boring and annoying lately so i'll take some extra paid time off! I don't think it will affect my MAT leave with the baby at all, but i'll find out tomorrow when i go see the HR lady.

i'm sure i'll be going out of my mind by next week but until then i'm going to enjoy!

I'm sure it's for the best and you won't have to go to work. I hope you don't get too bored but others have been through it so I'm sure they'll have some suggestions on what to do to pass the time. I would think reading, JM (if you have a laptop), watching movies, whatever you like!
I hope HR won't be hard on you.

I really hope you'll have a good update about the meeting with HR.. a girl at my work was in a similar situation and she was out of luck.. company won't pay for her time off (they don't have to) and our insurance doesn't have short term disability (sucks!).. most they would do is offer her a transfer to a location closer to her home. She's pregnant with twins and is now disobeying dr's orders of bedrest becasue she says she can't afford it.. she's pregnant with twins and has had 6 miscarriages - I can't believe she's staying at work! eek

Yikes Judy that's crazy!!! I'm really lucky that i have been paying into STD since i started with this company! If not, then i would be SOL myself! I hope everything works out okay for your friend!

Alicia, my readings are usually around 140/100ish.... it's the lower number that they worry about. All last week it was over 90, and mostly at about 100. It's weird because even though i have this problem going on, i feel fine! Well, except for the backache, groin pain, swollen and pained feet, and heartburn but those i just attribute to regular old pregnancy! As far as the rest of me goes, i'm doing okay!

So my nonstress test went great today. Had a nice low bp while i was there laying down during the test. Then i walked the two steps to the OB's office and waited in the waiting room for 20 min and by then my bp was back up to 140/100. So yea that's not good. Still need to be on bedrest, like actual bed or couch rest i guess. So i asked the doctor if all this meant an early delivery and he said yes. He said, the magic number that we want you to get to is 36 weeks. Um hello!? that's 3 weeks from today!!!! Then he asked if i was having a boy or girl because apparently girls do better at 36 weeks??? Not sure about that one but whatever, he's the doc! So i don't think it means i'll be having a baby for sure at 36 weeks but he said i do need to watch out for pre term labor during the next 3 weeks. I'm not sure what will happen if i make it to 36 weeks but he said both the hypertension and the GD are pushing their hands. Guess i should pack my bag huh?! Good news is i get an ultrasound on Wednesday to see how big this little girl is getting! According to the websites and apps she's anywhere from 4.5-5lbs! I can't believe how big she is already! I feel like i was just getting excited about her getting to a pound! I just can't believe her being here in 3 weeks is a possibility. I think its safe to say i will NOT be having a February baby! Guess i'll have to start getting used to January....

*lurking* I used to post here a long time ago, so I sometimes check up on the board. Anyway, I couldn't resist jumping in because the exact same thing happened to me one year ago!

I was 33, almost 34 weeks and my bp shot up to 140/100's. They sent me to l & d on Dec 23rd and I was officially on bed rest for it.

I did the nst two times a week and they eventually induced at 37 weeks-they chose then because I was considered to term. Alexandra was born a healthy 6 1/2 pound baby with no issues at all! And yes, baby girls do better if born a little bit early-they are generally heartier and lungs do mature faster. Just make sure to rest!

Well, I guess you might not get as much bed rest as you thought. I hope she stays in and bakes a little longer.
